The major goal of the PhD project in the @Kei__Sakamoto Group is to investigate the molecular mechanism by which AMPK controls metabolic processes in skeletal muscle and liver through specific post-translational modification (PTM, such as reversible phosphorylation) and develop unique methods/strategy to modify or mimic such regulation via cutting-edge targeted protein PTM technology or small molecules in cells/tissues.

Very excited to share that in a few short weeks I will be starting as an Assistant Professor at @WesternU in Physiology and Pharmacology @westernuPandP! If you are interested in immunometabolism and metabolic disease please reach out! Hiring at multiple positions!
I am grateful for all the opportunities and mentors I had at Trinity College Dublin @tcddublin and will miss my friends and colleagues from TBSI @tcdTBSI very much - it has been a great place to work and learn over the past 3.5 years!
It's a great month to be into immunometabolism! Our March issue is online now with a review (and cover!) from @Tim_Sparwasser's lab on macrophage metabolism during infection, an article from @LavineLab on cardiac macrophages and much more!cell.com/issue/S1043-2760(23… (1/2)
Our next TBSI tea & biscuit morning on Wednesday March 6th 10-11 am (2nd floor). Everyone is welcome including postdocs, PhD students, technicians, RAs and PIs, so bring your colleagues too!
Many thanks to everyone that came along, baked or donated for this "spooky science" themed coffee morning in aid of @Dublin_Simon. We raised €272.30! Well done to all the winning bakers! #bakeoff#science#fundraising
In it's final form! And my last first author project from my time in @DrGregSteinberg 's lab @MacMODR . Here we show activation of macrophage AMPK beta1 reduces atherosclerosis independently of changes in serum lipids. @iScience_CPsciencedirect.com/science/ar…
