What was the end result of Democrats’ DHS shutdown?
Zero ICE reforms, and ICE and CBP are now funded with an additional $70 billion through the rest of Trump’s presidency.
After negotiations fell apart in the Senate, Republicans simply went around Dems and funded Trump’s immigration enforcement agenda on their own, & Dems were powerless to stop it.
And this is *on top* of the money ICE & CBP already got in the One Big Beautiful Bill last year.
ICE & CBP now have more money coming to their coffers than they ever would have if there had been no DHS shutdown.

Tonight, Democrats had yet ANOTHER chance to pass the SAVE America Act.
EVERY SINGLE DEMOCRAT VOTED NO — including Sen. Jon Ossoff, despite 74% of Georgians supporting voter ID and 70% supporting proof of citizenship to register to vote.
VOTE HIM OUT.
Mr. President, I was honored to lead the charge to pass the SAVE America Act, one of the most consequential pieces of legislation you and your team have created.
The SAVE America Act:
- Requires voter ID
- Proof of citizenship so only U.S. citizens can vote
- Men can’t play women’s sports
- No sex changes for minors
This is just common sense.
All Democrats voted no, and they will eventually pay a price.
Again Mr. President, thank you for your support and endorsement of my reelection. It means the world to me and will matter to the Republican primary voters of South Carolina.
