Replying to @PatLeahyIT
But you have only advanced one view - is it enough for an NGO to produce a guide and for a journalist to report on its existence as though the guide is fact? Why not include counter views? If the Catholic Church produced a guide saying all children should be baptised would you seek other opinions? What about research on the potential harms of social transition? The article induces fear and encourages ideological conformity.

If this is confirmed, and I believe it will be, then the IOC has recognized biological reality, and will protect the boundary around women's sport. It was always a choice. thetimes.com/sport/olympics/…

Ten years ago this month - on the 15th July 2025 - the then Irish Government passed the Gender Recognition Act thus permitting men to identify into all women’s spaces simply by signing a piece of paper - no physical changes required. The law also gives fuel to the dangerous lie that it’s possible for children and adolescents to change sex (which many attempt to do by medicalisation and surgery including by radical double mastectomy of healthy breasts). The law has been regressive. It has stripped women of their rights in Ireland and is causing untold damage to young otherwise healthy young people. I am suggesting that on July 15th people try to raise awareness of this Act with the hashtag #OverTheRadar - the act was infamously passed ‘under the radar’ and we need to get a spotlight on it.

🇮🇪 “I won’t be answering that question.” That was Dr Niall Muldoon, Ireland’s Children’s Ombudsman - @OCO_ireland, when @SenatorKeogan asked if puberty blockers should be banned. He also refused to say whether children can change sex. This is the man tasked with safeguarding Irish children. For shame.

The Ombudsman for Children has told an Oireachtas Committee that he cannot say whether puberty blockers should be banned for children in Ireland, having been asked by Senator Sharon Keogan if he believes that children can change their sex: gript.ie/childrens-ombudsman…

What @rte and Ireland’s Department of Children @DeptCDE either (a) don’t want people to know or (b) don’t know Is that so-called ‘gender affirming care’ results in lifelong irreversible physical damage. Read the thread below about FGM:
Friends and enemies, Almost all of you are confused. “Pediatric gender medicine” is not “Female Genital Mutilation” if surgery is involved. The MEDS are FGM. WHEN MEDICATIONS ALONE are used. This is simple, if you’re willing to read. Here comes some explicit talk: 🧵

"Erasing women and women-specific language and needs based on their sex is not only wrong, but also demeaning, regressive and constitutes one of the worst forms of violence that women and girls can experience," @UNSRVAW Reem Alsalem told the @UN Human Rights Council. #HRC59

I remember a time long, long ago - last summer, to be precise - when people were condemned as hate-filled, far right bigots for saying this was the right course of action. I also remember how journalists at the time asked no hard questions about it. telegraph.co.uk/boxing/2025/…

New: Imane Khelif has been banned from boxing in Eindhoven next week. The Algerian will have to undergo sex testing to have any chance of competing. In a major development, World Boxing is to make such tests mandatory across all its events.

This is an extraordinary story and goes some way towards shining light on the changing face of religion in Ireland. A Catholic statue is defaced and desecrated and replaced with an image signalling the new dominant belief system.
There is something deeply disturbing about the desecration of any religious icon. You don't have to be Christian to find this distasteful. Why would @AbbVieIreland @IrishRail @MayoCoCo support this? @SenatorMcDowell @RonanMullen open.substack.com/pub/louise…

The skort issue makes the papers. “The indignity of the skorts row - a debate only made more humiliating for women” by how silly it all is. “How has the wishes of players be ignored for so long?” The silence around men in women’s sports is deafening. #SaveWomensSport

To quote from today’s ’letter of the day’: ‘We as trans people dissent from a rigid gender binary’. (To me that’s fine but does everyone therefore have to dissent? Do women have to give up single-sex spaces and sports? Do we drop the need for evidence-based care?)
Don’t pathologise trans people irishtimes.com/opinion/lette…

An activist openly acknowledges that any questioning or critique of gender identity theory in Ireland is institutionally unacceptable. This suggests that everyone must be forced to believe that gender identity is more important than biological sex. What about freedom of belief?
In a second letter in today’s Irish Times about gender identity theory, Morr O’Malley of Trans Healthcare Action accepts that only one perspective on gender identity is acceptable in Ireland and this is ‘for the same reason as there is only one perspective on slavery’ acceptable
