The North East gave birth to India's petroleum industry; today, it stands ready to power the next chapter of India's energy journey as Nagaland will produce oil and gas again after 31 years! With the signing of a historic tripartite Memorandum of Understanding between Ministry of Petroleum & Natural Gas, Nagaland and Assam, India’s quest towards increasing domestic exploration and production of hydrocarbons under the visionary leadership of PM Sh @narendramodi Ji takes a giant leap as a new basin opens up for fresh wildcat exploration! Since Assam alone accounts for nearly 22% of India's crude oil reserves and around 15% of the country's natural gas reserves, while Nagaland possesses significant hydrocarbon potential in the Naga-Schuppen Belt of the Assam-Arakan Basin, resources where hydrocarbons flow naturally and those which have huge untapped resources, the outlook for E&P activities in the North East is therefore extremely promising. By creating a framework for cooperation between the concerned Governments, this MoU signed in the presence of HM Sh @AmitShah Ji, provides certainty to investors, facilitates operational continuity, enables regulatory coordination and creates conditions necessary for long-term investment decisions. Even if flex-fuel vehicles account for just 1% of annual petrol vehicle sales in India they will generate a demand for 4 crore litres of ethanol in which payments of about ₹266 crore will be made to distilleries and save us ₹195 crore in foreign exchange (Nearly ₹160 crore of which will flow directly to our Urjadatas).  Global experience, including Brazil’s successful adoption of higher ethanol blends which I had the opportunity of witnessing during my posting to Brasilia between 2006-2008, demonstrates that flex-fuel mobility is proven, scalable and reliable.

India has one of the world’s largest two-wheeler ecosystems with an active two-wheeler fleet of over 300 million vehicles. The flex-fuel technology has the potential to transform mobility at an unprecedented scale. Today’s historic launch is a defining moment in India’s mobility and ethanol blending quest which was at just 1.5% in 2014 and has now achieved 20% blending, even as we look beyond. It will help reduce our energy imports bill and continue to provide an additional source of income to our farmers who have become Urjadatas from only being the country’s Annadatas.

Yesterday we launched @HeroMotoCorp’s Splendor and HF Deluxe Flex Fuel motorcycles, today Wagon-R Flex joined the unprecedented journey. These launches will provide momentum to India’s Aatmanirbhar Ethanol blending quest, which stood at a mere 1.5% in 2014, reached the milestone of 20%, and now looks beyond. This not only helps lower our energy import bill but also empowers our farmers with an additional and sustainable source of income, transforming them from the nation’s Annadatas into Urjadatas as well. If just 50% of two and four wheelers sales in India shift to Flex fuel: 🌿 311.8 crore litres of additional ethanol demand  🌿 ₹12,403 crore additional income for farmers  🌿 ₹1,672.3 crore saving in foreign exchange  🌿 66.4 lakh metric tonnes less CO₂ emissions With the technologies and fuels being developed within the country, it gives a push to the quest of भारत के वाहन, भारत का ईंधन!

Called on the Acting President of Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela HE @delcyrodriguezv today with the leadership of @PetroleumMin and CMDs of India’s energy sector PSUs. India has a long standing energy partnership with Venezuela since 2008 and shares unique complimentarities with the country. Venezuela possesses biggest proven reserves of oil in the world, while India not only possesses huge demand for energy but also has the technological expertise and manpower to refine Venezuelan crude in our refineries. Venezuela is already among the largest crude oil suppliers to India in April & May 2026, which is a reflection of the future potential. Our technical team will visit Venezuela soon to further explore this potential. In a landmark relief to the country’s aviation and energy sectors, the Union Cabinet under the leadership of PM Sh @narendramodi Ji has approved one-time budgetary support not exceeding ₹10,000 crore for Oil Marketing Companies (OMCs) to provide ATF price stabilisation support to Scheduled Indian Airlines for their domestic and international operations. The fund will help stabilise ATF prices for scheduled Indian carriers and will prevent disruption of airline operations while protecting air passengers from fare spikes driven by the geopolitical conflict involving several energy producers. Even as the global supply chains have been severely impacted, several countries including those in South Asia and many in the west, India has successfully maintained steady and uninterrupted supply of affordable and sustainable energy. Our OMCs have only implemented very minor price adjustments as they continue to serve the energy consumers. For ATF also, India has not raised prices for domestic airlines despite very high international prices. This fund will protect 77 lakh jobs dependent on the aviation ecosystem and safeguard substantial public investment in airport infrastructure by keeping airline operations viable and will help maintain regional and international connectivity. #CabinetDecisions @PMOIndia @PetroleumMin @MoCA_GoI @PIB_India
