A reminder as Tommy Robinson marches for "free speech" in London today: It’s far easier to defend the right to hold bigoted opinions than it is to defend bigotry itself. Free speech is about far more than your right to insult anyone you choose and call yourself a hero. bit.ly/46i3vJt

Herzog is President of a state committing genocide, that has also carried out illegal attacks on other sovereign nations. We should not be welcoming him, but arresting and investigating him for war crimes. It's beyond time to hold Israeli politicians to account.

The Government must impose widespread sanctions on Israel. Alongside @Imran_HussainMP, I'll be launching a new Parliamentary Working Group for Sanctions on Israel when Parliament returns. It will bring together MPs, Lords, lawyers, NGOs and justice campaigns to demand sanctions

Journalists are #NotATarget. Attacks against journalists are attacks against fundamental freedoms. A free press is essential to human rights, democracy and the rule of law; and to ensure the truth is brought to light and perpetrators brought to account.

I’ve written to the PM demanding greater global protections for reporters. At least 189 journalists have been killed in Gaza – many targeted for exposing Israel’s crimes. This is a war on truth. We must push for an international convention for the safety of media workers.

Last month, I warned that proscribing Palestine Action would result in the mass criminalisation of people who are not even members of the group. Now more than 500 people have been arrested. I voted against the proscription. We shouldn't be conflating protest with terrorism.

Amnesty strongly condemns Israel’s deliberate killing of journalists in an air strike on a media tent in occupied Gaza City. Anas al-Sharif and his colleagues have been the eyes and voices of Gaza. Starved and exhausted, they continued to bravely report from the frontlines, despite death threats and immense grief. No conflict in modern history has seen a higher number of journalists killed than Israel’s genocide against Palestinians in the Gaza Strip. There must be an independent and impartial investigation into the killings of Palestinian journalists, with justice and full reparation for their families. States must urgently act to bring an end to Israel’s genocide now.
