No, Mark. The blame for murder rests solely with the murderer, not with those that fail to appease them.
Anyone can spin “reasons” and “if onlys” but that just infantilizes and denies the murderer’s agency. Murder is always choice. Hamas is 100% to blame for their murders.

The UN Charter enshrines the ideal of a people’s inalienable right to self determination. It was that ideal that justified the 1947 partition plan for Mandatory Palestine. Zionism, at its core, is merely the expression of that ideal for Jews. It doesn’t deny a Palestinian state.

Objecting to Israeli policy is one thing. Rejecting the very idea of Israel being the Jewish homeland is a very different one. It denies Jews the same right of self-determination that you want Palestinians be given. Zionism and a Palestinian state are not mutually exclusive.

Pilsner and Jeff cannot comprehend that our founders didn't actually hate democracy- they developed a republican form that would uphold the ideals of democracy and avoid its failings and weaknesses. Hence a republic that enshrines "this new principle of representative democracy".
