My favorite things about the @New_Christendom conference: Everytime I walked by the St. Brendan’s table, students had their baby siblings in their lap. ❤️ Anytime I was around an NCP staffer and he found out his wife showed up he’d say, “YES! My wife is here!!” Women and children are very adored and cared for here. ❤️❤️❤️

First talk today by the commissioner himself, Eric Conn (@Eric_Conn) speaking on the the longhouse & the war against normal. “…The church has been longhoused, and has helped build the longhouse in society. This has been done not only by liberals, but ‘conservatives'... …One of the things that we need most of all is to know that God will supply the courage for this fight, and so one of my great prayers for this conference, and one of my great hopes is that you would see, among all other things, that you need a tribe of men to stand with you in the breach. This is going to be a long work across many generations, but we need Christian boroughs, we need places where Christians can carve out own space economically and politically, and for the church.”

.@Brian_Sauve opened up the conference talks with a great message. “…you will not win your war for normal by simple accumulation of the right theoretical knowledge or the right mental model of an ideal political system, or the same for an ideal ecclesiastical structure. Don’t let knowledge accrual and theory accrual function in your life like world-building functions for a fantasy novelist. An elaborate mental model of the world as you think it ought to be won’t, by itself, do almost anything. Worse, it can actually keep you from doing anything, because you get so bogged down in an ultimate and hypothetical future ideal state that you become paralyzed in terms of taking the next three steps in front of you—because of course those steps aren’t good enough. After all, they’re all sorts of mixed up with sub-ideal circumstances and realities. All of this can become like a relief valve for action—where the mere act of thinking and writing and posting and debating is substituted for the meaningful and concrete action itself.” -Brian Sauvé
