Balogun has been flying under the radar for a couple of years now. He finished last season with Monaco with 17 G A in 26 starts.

Apart from that, what was most encouraging was the fluidity of ball movement and pressing intensity from the team. They played like a side that Poch himself would be proud of.

On to game 2, #KORCZE After a sleepy first half, the game certainly came alive in the second. Krejci headed home from a cleverly executed throw-in routine that came out of nowhere. Hwang In Beom scored calmly before he provided a delightful cross for Oh Hyeon Gyu to tap in.

South Korea also maintained a lovely in-possession shape. Great usage of width, good distance between players, etc.

Talking about #Czechia, they created almost nothing from open play. While their set-piece wits have to be appreciated, criticism about their chance creation from open play is also justified.

#FIFAWorldCup Day 1 Analysis! 🧵 Starting with #MexicoVsSA, Sithole probably had the worst game ever as a World Cup outfielder, with a red and an error leading to a goal. After the first goal, Mexico took their foot off the gas despite the red. Top performers (OBV):

It was absolutely lovely to see #RaulJimenez score his first-ever World Cup goal by a header, which all of us thought would be a far-fetched reality after this skull fracture injury vs #Arsenal in 2020. #Mexico ended up with a staggering 19 shots!

However, the main man today was #JulianQuinones. Came up with the opening goal, and completed the most dribbles in the game. Speaking of South Africa, they had nothing positive to take from the game. Maybe the fact that they did not concede in an 11v11 game and without errors?

This narrative that he’s always had it easy is so jarring. Bro left his family in Argentina and went to the other side of the world to try make it big while also battling growth hormone issues. That takes serious guts and courage as a 13 year old..
📸 This photo turns 25 years old today. Leo Messi at room 546 of Hotel Catalonia, at 13 years old. He traveled more than 10,000 km from Rosario, along with his father, with a single goal: to try his luck at La Masía for FC Barcelona. The rest is history.

Today is World Suicide Prevention Day. This video produced by Norwich City does a fantastic job of shining a light on how many people suffer in silence when they don’t need to. If you’re struggling, you can call Samaritans on: 116 123. ❤️
