We are Trade Unionists Against the EU, campaigning against neoliberalism, privatisation and austerity, whether imposed by the European Union or the Tories.
Did anyone check this before publishing? Sky News editor calling govt plan to enact referendum result "Divisive, ugly, vicious", says parliament must oust him!
Our 'neutral' broadcast media now openly calling for the PM to be removed. Incredible. @Ofcom
"We're not calling for a second referendum. Whatever people think of it, the decision was made and we have to respect democracy" - the FBU general secretary in 2016.
Last week, at Labour conference, the FBU leadership backed the call for a 2nd referendum.
Remain broke electoral law, Remain was "an illegal campaign", a "criminal campaign". This will dominate the news cycle for weeks... won't it?

Corbyn should reaffirm that Labour will accept the referendum decision and deliver Brexit. Taking this step would not only make political sense, it would allow Corbyn to stay true to what I believe are his own anti-EU instincts | Bryan Gould brexitcentral.com/?p=13216
Magnificent and brutally accurate piece from former Labour heavyweight (and long-time Eurosceptic) Bryan Gould.
"We are where we are because Remainers have collaborated with the EU to prevent an acceptable deal." brexitcentral.com/we-are-whe…
Being in control of their own lives is of paramount importance to Leave voters. The increasingly hysterical economic scare stories from Remain and the EU just make them want to get out even more.
Still no answer from @MattWrack on whether or not he still believes this (he wrote it last year.) If he does, how does he square it with the decision to purge me for dissent? If he doesn't, he should say so.
It's time for some honesty and openness from the FBU leadership.
Lord Owen: if the undemocratic assault on Brexit by MPs were to succeed, the forces unleashed would "smash the present political system".
Still one of the best summaries we've seen. #brexit
My open letter to @fbunational general secretary @MattWrack. Instead of firing off angry private missives to my supporters, come out of the shadows and debate me publicly.
Would you like to see a public debate take place between me and the general secretary of the FBU, @MattWrack, on the issues of free speech and whether or not it is right for union officials to be removed from office simply for expressing a personal view in their own private time?
Strong piece from Labour MP Jon Cruddas about the Paul Embery affair:
"Paul Embery's debarment is illegitimate and unjustified. Many of my colleagues in the Labour Party have privately raised their concerns about the FBU’s position and its implications." bluelabour.org/2019/07/23/jo…
I hereby invite FBU general secretary @MattWrack to take part in a filmed debate with me on the issues of free speech, the right to dissent, and whether a union should debar officials for expressing their personal opinions in their own private time.
Are you up for this, Matt?
I'm very grateful to @JonCruddas_1 for this powerful intervention. Jon is the Labour MP for Dagenham (where I grew up) and is rooted in the trade union movement. He argues that we must defend the right to air dissenting views in our movement. He is right. bluelabour.org/2019/07/23/jo…
.@PaulEmbery was speaking as our representative at the pro-democracy rally on that evening in March. He was not speaking for the FBU, neither did he claim to be. Yet the FBU has banned him from office for 2 years. All true democrats should stand with Paul. mirror.co.uk/news/uk-news/sa…
.@PaulEmbery has spent 20 years fighting on behalf of firefighters. But he has been banned from office by the FBU for speaking at a pro-Leave rally in his own time. It's a sad day when a respected union disciplines someone for having the 'wrong' opinions. spiked-online.com/2019/06/13…
Thank you @PaulEmbery for talking this morning: a trade unionist since he was 16 and FBU member for 20 years, he's now been kicked off its national executive for the 'crime' of speaking in favour of Britain respecting the Leave referendum result. A shameful attack on free speech.
