This is the worst.
Schools where students can walk in and out of lessons as and when they like, routinely argue with teachers, dispute basic instructions, swear, shout across rooms and in corridors, roam around in gangs AND where teachers are still scrutinised to hell and back... ❌

Recently my department have really focused on improving reading fluency and comprehension (also a whole school focus). It was great to receive some positive feedback on this in a recent Ofsted deep-dive. Here are some strategies we have been using - THREAD:

If a job was well paid, easy to do, had lots of holidays and meant you could finish work each day at 3.30pm, wouldn't it be oversubscribed? 🤔

Yo wtf...just saw a stat that said only 30-50% of people have an internal dialogue. There's really 50% of the population out here walking around with NOTHING going on in their head?? Everything is starting to make much more sense

They also really enjoyed the illustrations, with T particularly engaged by the spread were everyone has the same face! He couldn't fathom a world that could look like this! 😂 L, on the other hand, was very interested in a world where everybody spoke in robot voice! 🤖

The message of this book, of kindness and sharing, is an important one. It crops up often but is delivered here in a new and engaging way! The tips for creating a better world and spreading kindness that are delivered across the last 2 spreads are a particular highlight! 5stars!

Tonight is our stop on the #blogtour for super sci-fi adventure Swarm Enemy by @astro_timpeake and @SteveColeBooks! There's always that worry when you have a sequel to something awesome that it won't quite meet the standards you expect, and here, with Danny and Jamilia back, that

The book also ticks the nerd box, with loads of interesting information that will really get children answering questions! In fact, one of our favourite bits was hidden at the back of the book! Who doesn't love a quiz?!

Massive thanks to @HachetteKids for asking us to take part! This one will be going straight into my class library!

Sad to hear of the passing of Raymond Briggs. Exquisite illustrator and story-teller. A staple of childhood and Christmas tradition. Bringer of much joy. What a legacy! Rest in peace.
