9 yo bride. 54 yo groom. My brother was KIA Afghanistan 2008. This only heightens the sense that his death was pointless. I recall sitting at a negotiations table on this topic at the CSW meetings - 2008? Under Shariah law, a woman of any age lacks the power to consent.

There was a diverse group of folks gathered at the poll location we chose and all were joyful, respectful and hospitable. We went in Sisters and we came out Sisters and our ballots didn’t need to look identical for that to be the case.

I watched this w/o sound and saw her discomfort and his size/status. She’s not only uncomfortable, she’s in a position of powerlessness while he’s physically wielding power (not letting go and bringing her in for a hug despite her discomfort). Huge gender/power dynamics going on
