Sorry to hear about my old pal Robert Jenrick. I was lucky enough to meet Robert at a roller disco in Arbroath in 1991. He was wearing a pair of denim shorts that caused a rubbernecking divorcee to banjo herself against a pillar and I’ve kept a keen eye on his career ever since.
Belatedly caught up with the Mordaunt speech. Never seen the like. It was a kind of histrionic vacuum-pump, emptying the air of sense. The applause it drew at its end must have been an expression of relief.
I cannot stop watching this. It’s one of the most peculiar things I’ve ever seen, which given the venue, is really saying something. Get to the end (if you can).
I can even hear Boris using the word; shorter-term power than even he expected but sadly rather longer-term gain: £5m in 6 months - perhaps he'd like to donate generously NHS.
It was a great week, @3choirs with the St John and Apostles real highlights for me, to say nothing of hearing a wonderful performance of VW Tallis Fantasia in its original location 113 years later.
Tonight marks the grand finale of the Three Choirs Festival as we conclude with Elgar's mesmerising masterpiece, 'The Apostles.'
Join us for Elgar’s exploration of faith, discipleship and the extraordinary events of Jesus’s life, death and resurrection.
Rehearsals are underway, last chance for tickets: philharmonia.co.uk/whats-on/…
O may we soon again renew that song.
"To those who are about to leave a choir you have loved and cherished for the last five or so years know this: you are not leaving. Not really."

This is an awful and shocking episode, where there was no criminality, but perhaps a complicated private life. That doesn’t feel very private now. I hope that will give some cause to reflect. They really need to. I wish @thehuwedwards well.
When Dad died, I recorded some tributes from many brilliant friends. Barry H was beautifully sparky and inventive but above all, humane. However, the hug he gave me afterwards exceeded his words in comfort and compassion. I return it with interest to his family. #barryhumphries
Of course she's brilliant and working with her is the greatest blessing a scruffy music teacher like me could dream of.
But Lucy is what happens when you make instrumental tuition available to disadvantaged children.
Help us to get this message across to those who decide.
