Elliotte says no one has spoken on the Larkin trade request. He thinks Matthew Tkachuk and Quinn Hughes changed the league by refusing to sign with their teams, then going on to find greater success. Doesn't think this will be the last trade request of the season. Larkin winning the gold could have made him want to win more, forcing this move.
There is a bit of a frosty relationship with Yzerman, and if he goes to a deeper team, he has a better chance to create an impact and win. Says the rift between Larkin and Steve is real. Says for Larkin, it's just time to move on.
Yzerman will not be backed into a corner or bullied. He has to be practical, but teams won't lowball him. Will he trade him for help now or try to grab futures and younger players to build around Mo and Lucas? Getting younger would delay the window.
Dallas, Tampa, maybe Florida, and Minnesota are the teams Elliotte is looking at.
