Just as predicted. Hurricanes Helene and Milton have stirred up nitrogen rich cool waters from deep down (called "cool water upwelling") that is now causing widepread algal blooms of this neurotoxin. This one is particularly bad for humans and deadly for many sea animals. I expect to see lots of dead fish washing ashore soon if not already. These are the long term effects of tropical cyclones traversing that area.

Oftentimes the cyclone’s strongest winds are not located exactly at the center of the cyclone, so it is possible that the strongest winds are already being experienced over land before landfall officially occurs. (2/2)

Two rapid studies were just released that found human-caused global warming made Hurricane Helene stronger & wetter. One study says that global warming created 50% more rain over parts of Georgia & the Carolinas.
