We are deeply saddened to learn of the passing of Marjane Satrapi. Author of the internationally acclaimed Persepolis, translated into Hindi by Vani Prakashan and into Kannada by Chanda Pustaka, she leaves behind a body of work that has profoundly shaped our understanding of contemporary Iran, women's lives, and the power of graphic storytelling. Through her singular voice and unmistakable visual language, she opened a window onto history, memory, exile, and resistance for readers across the world. We will always remember her generosity in joining us for the launch of the Hindi translation of Persepolis on 11 June 2021, at a time when the world was confined to its homes. She gave us her time, her warmth, and the opportunity to revisit a story that had touched so many lives.

FICCI Gujarat facilitated high-level engagements during the visit of HE Mr @thierry_mathou, Ambassador of France to India, to Ahmedabad and Gandhinagar, focused on strengthening cooperation in sports infrastructure, policy, innovation, and global sporting partnerships. The visit and discussions were accompanied by Mr @GokulJaykrishna, Chair, FICCI Gujarat State Council, and Mr Sanjay Adesara, Co-Chair, FICCI Sports Committee, reflecting FICCI’s continued commitment towards enabling international collaboration in the sports sector. The discussions with senior Government representatives and industry leaders reflected Gujarat’s growing ambition to emerge as a globally recognised sporting destination and a leading “sports city” model integrating world-class infrastructure, urban development, tourism, technology, and economic growth. A key highlight of the visit was the tour of the Narendra Modi Stadium and the broader Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel Sports Enclave, showcasing the scale of India’s sporting ambitions and the transformative vision being pursued by Gujarat. The engagement also builds upon the growing Indo-French partnership momentum ahead of RIGES in France, where India will be the Country of Honour, and FICCI TURF 2026, where France will be positioned as the Partner Country. FICCI remains committed to enabling meaningful partnerships that strengthen India’s sports economy and deepen international cooperation through sport.

On the 02nd June 2026, NID Ahmedabad had the pleasure of welcoming a delegation led by H.E. the Ambassador of France in India, Mr. Thierry Mathou. He was accompanied by Mr. Patrick Leverino, Consul General, Consulate General of France in Mumbai; Mr. Grégor Trumel, Counsellor for Cooperation and Cultural Affairs, Country Director of French Institute in India; Mr. Emmanuel Bottiau, Director, Alliance Française of Ahmedabad and Ms. Aura Burzynski, Cultural Attaché (West India), Consulate General of France in Mumbai. They visited the key facilities of the campus which was followed by a meeting with Dr. Ashok Mondal, Director, NID and other senior officials of the institute where they were given an overview of the various activities of NID.
