Appalling news out of @RoehamptonUni. Beggars belief that an institution which purports to support students enjoy a 'fulfilling life' can so casually demolish one of the most successful depts in UK for opening doors to the subject area.

I have tweeted about this before. It is worse than sadd. It is about a wider erosion of humanities in new uni's (and ones which have done huge amounts for a new style of classics/humanities, inclusivity etc etc_)

I probably wouldn’t have got a chance to study Classics for my degree if I didn’t get to do it at Roehampton @UoRClassics @FriendsClassics. As a teacher I always try to share my love of the subject in the comp that I work in. Such a shame for all involved.

The shutting down of Classics programmes at Roehampton is awful for many reasons: but for me, as an #ActuallyAutistic classicist and a director of @AsterionHub, it's upsetting because Roehampton has been quietly leading the way in neurodiversity inclusion. 1/

This is a catastrophic and disgraceful decision @RoehamptonUni - a remarkable Classics department having an international reputation well beyond the meagre resources allocated to it. A blow to the world of learning and to humane education in this country.
