#DYK Over half a tree’s weight is made up of captured carbon? By thinking bigger & building taller with wood, we can create the carbon storage we need in the communities where we live.

By converting wood chips, sawdust, and bark — materials that might otherwise be considered waste — into bioenergy, we can help reduce our country’s reliance on fossil fuels

The @ns_environment department recently added red tape to the forest sector. These changes: 🌲 Harm landowner rights 🚫 Make it easier for people to trespass on private property 🛑 Make it easier to disrupt businesses /1

"We're pleased to report that the Court has approved our CCAA stay extension until the end of November 2023. We are hopeful that the next few weeks will clarify whether a mediated settlement is possible with the Province, which will inform our ongoing environmental assessment. Please look at the post below for more information on what we requested for this stay period." facebook.com/NorthernPulpNov… #nspoli

We new markets for low grade wood. Without a mill or biomass facilities (or both) there is no place for low grade wood to go. This is forest fire fuel. Without a market, it will sit on the ground and dry out. This increases the risk of wildfires. cbc.ca/news/canada/nova-scot…

Today’s disappointing release from the Nova Scotia Liberal Party casts doubt on our sector’s environmental and safety record. x.com/zachchurchill/status/1… @_ForestNS /1

Safety has to be our top priority and that includes stopping all commercial activity until rain comes to get these fires under control. The threat is not over. We cannot afford to lose any more homes or businesses. We need to come together to ensure we get this situation resolved

Nova Scotia is facing more wildfire threats. Hurricane Fiona knocked down millions of trees. In an average year, Nova Scotia would have 154 wildfires. There have been 151 already this year and the fire season has barely begun. The risk grows everyday the Fiona forest damage is ignored.   Let’s clean up the Fiona mess by creating renewable electricity with the boiler energy project in Pictou.   #nspoli cbc.ca/player/play/220860115…
