Paper Excellence Canada has made a $25,000 contribution towards the Canadian Red Cross Nova Scotia & Atlantic Canada Fires Appeal.
With matched contributions from the Government of Canada and the Nova Scotia Government, a total of $75,000 has been contributed.

We new markets for low grade wood. Without a mill or biomass facilities (or both) there is no place for low grade wood to go.
This is forest fire fuel.
Without a market, it will sit on the ground and dry out.
This increases the risk of wildfires.

Safety has to be our top priority and that includes stopping all commercial activity until rain comes to get these fires under control. The threat is not over. We cannot afford to lose any more homes or businesses. We need to come together to ensure we get this situation resolved

Nova Scotia is facing more wildfire threats. Hurricane Fiona knocked down millions of trees. In an average year, Nova Scotia would have 154 wildfires. There have been 151 already this year and the fire season has barely begun. The risk grows everyday the Fiona forest damage is ignored.
Let’s clean up the Fiona mess by creating renewable electricity with the boiler energy project in Pictou.

ALT Biodiversity is the priority on 90% of Crown land. 35% is within conservation areas, 55% within mixed areas that focus on ecological goals with some timber harvesting, and 10% within high production areas where trees are cut and replanted like crops on a farm
