CO₂-assisted pericardial access: fewer complications than dry access - regardless of needle choice (Tuohy or Micropuncture). Evidence keeps building. jacc.org/doi/10.1016/j.jacep… @CleClinicHVTI @castellobrancob @bruno_wilnes
Our paper is out in JACC: EP! In a systematic review and meta-analysis of 119 studies, EpiCO₂ was associated with a significantly lower risk of inadvertent ventricular puncture and complications requiring surgery compared with Dry-Epi. What an honor to be part of such an incredible project. Thank you @Dr_Santangeli and @AndreAssisCarmo for the mentorship and support. Thank you as well @bruno_wilnes and colleagues from the Cleveland Clinic team for the opportunity to collaborate. jacc.org/doi/10.1016/j.jacep…

Sudden cardiac arrest in athletes may be attributable to cardiac and noncardiac causes. With diagnosis and treatment, a return to play may be reasonable. Prevention, emergency planning, and shared decision making are key. Learn more in the Review Article “Sudden Cardiac Arrest in Athletes” by Rachel Lampert, MD, and Kimberly G. Great day at WRHN EP lab! Two posterior papillary PVC cases using CARTO–FARAPULSE — both successful. Case 1: Redo after failed RF (uneventful). Case 2: PVI PPM PVCs (PFA in V: transient QRS widening/ST changes, resolved in 2 min). ~10 ablations/case. Fantastic team effort! 💪

Congratulations to the team at Waterloo Regional Health Network, led by Dr. William Chan and Dr. @GAcostamd, for their innovative use of @inheartmedical in pre-procedure planning. Their approach enabled a successful ablation strategy with minimal anesthesia time for an incessant slow VT with transmural inferior and lateral scar and a challenging EF of 10–15%. Impressive mapping and seamless integration by Diana Nguyen and @Ghassanj89

Our work out today in @AnnalsofIM shows the importance of systematic follow up for patients with so-called “secondary” or “peri-operative” #AtrialFibrillation. 1 in 3 will have AF recurrence when assessed with 14 day Holter @McMasterU @PHRIresearch
Patients with new-onset atrial fibrillation during hospitalization face a surprising 1 in 3 risk of AF recurrence within 1 year, according to a new study. Findings highlight importance of vigilant monitoring and care. ow.ly/VGFG50PSwmZ #AtrialFibrillation #HeartHealth

ETOH VT ablation: 73 yo man with CAD, s/p PCI LAD/Cx year ago, EF 45% with secondary ICD for AMC VT and frequent PVCs. VT inducible at EPS with 92% pace-map match to PVCs. At best at-QRS endocardially, but 30 msec pre-QRS in the high lateral CS branch. Nice visualization of the ablated volume on ICE. #EPeeps @MouhannadSadek
