I've been getting questions about how to embed Indigenous history and current realities in classrooms in ways that are appropriate and respectful. Here's a quick video to help! youtu.be/J8dwaZNeeMs #LKDSB educators: If you have questions, send me an email! 😁

This is a heavy week for Indigenous students and teachers. In Ojibwe we’ve been focusing on saying and knowing we matter, we are still here, we are proud and we are strong. Nda Mshkozii 💪🏼 Time in the native plant garden helps lighten things up for us!

The Ojibwe words of the Week at @hwburgessps have been words about our animal relatives. Grade 2/3 made a short video sharing some of these words. They used Pic Collage to create these super cute pictures! #IndigenousPeoplesMonth #Anishinaabemowin #LKDSB @LKDSB

Almost all @hwburgessps classes and staff had a chance to learn with the Indigenous People’s Atlas of Canada Floor Map. We wished we could have more time with it, there’s so much to explore and so many discussions to have! #LKDSB @LKElempro

I know that all my educator friends are trying to just enjoy the break right now, but when you watch this video, what curriculum connections can you make? This video with my dad and my son was filmed at my home in Bkejwanong, Walpole Island First Nation. youtube.com/watch?v=XnxlvC6_…

Another reason why we ask Ts not to have Ss “paint like Morrisseau” because what r we actually teaching them? It’s ok to copy w/o permission. Instead have Ss learn abt Indigenous artists who they r & why they chose their style. cbc.ca/news/canada/thunder-b…

I do a family trivia kahoot every week.🤓 This week I wowed my family because I knew what a midden was. I knew this because my class participated in a webinar with @SCRCA_water last week! 🐿️ My class loved the webinar, by the way!!
