The BC Government is now okay with natural gas for power generation, but it’s CleanBC policy still calls for an effective ban on natural gas for heating of new homes & offices by 2030…driving up demand for natural gas electricity generation. 🤨 biv.com/news/economy-law-pol…

"Disappointing electioneering" is one way to describe a pool South Van has been asking for since 2008. Another way: a community of 100,000 residents — mostly working-class, mostly racialized — being told for the fourth time in 18 years that their pool is someone else's problem.
Council and ABC have no authority to construct a pool within Sunset Park. It is designated as a permanent park and therefore requires Park Board approval. Several other aquatic facilities have been planned ahead of this. Disappointing electioneering. #stayinyourlane #vanpoli

Ah yes, the West Coast shipping ban that is stopping LNG Canada tankers, TMX tankers, KSI Lsims tankers to Germany.....
Stephen Guilbeault announced his retirement today. While I have a certain level of respect for anyone who puts their name on a ballot, I could never respect the damaging policies he imposed on Canadians. The good news for Guilbeault’s legacy is bad news for Canadians. Here’s why: Carney is keeping Guilbeault’s No-More-Pipelines bill on the books. Carney is keeping the industrial carbon tax, and hiking it. Carney is keeping the radical EV mandate, making almost all gas and diesel car sales illegal by 2040. Carney is keeping the west coast shipping ban, blocking Canadian energy exports. Carney is keeping the net-zero policies in place. In his book called Values, Carney supported all of Guilbeault’s radical policies to leave oil and gas in the ground. So as Guilbeault leaves Ottawa, he can take personal comfort knowing that Carney is keeping all the anti-development, high energy cost policies in place.

Sean, I would strongly encourage you to understand what “杀富济贫” actually means before making such a serious accusation against me (translation below from ChatGPT). This classical Chinese idiom has been used for thousand years in literature to describe the concept of wealth redistribution — the same principle reflected in your belief like “tax the rich,” and even “eat the rich” used by some of your supporters. That policy is what you are proud of, right? If you are uncomfortable seeing your own policy described in plain terms, perhaps the discomfort lies with the policy itself — not the translation. Cultural gaps are real, but when we do not take the time to learn and understand the culture and context, they easily turn into misunderstanding and mischaracterization and racism in some situation I stand by my comments and remain fully committed to respectful, transparent debate on policies that affect all of our residents, regardless their socioeconomic status.
ABC continues to spread shameless and dangerous disinformation. Just weeks after the Mayor and Cllr Zhou were caught spreading outrageous lies about me, Zhou went on WeChat and claimed my tax rebate idea was a "kill the rich" policy.

Mélanie Joly on rumour Steven Guilbeault could quit caucus: "I'm a good friend of Steven. I worked a lot to bring him into politics ... But I also think that what we've done with the MOU makes sense ... We're dealing with an energy crisis right now."

Honoured to meet with Prime Minister Mark Carney today. Vancouver is Canada's gateway to the Pacific. Our port moves more cargo than the next five largest Canadian ports combined. We are hosting FIFA World Cup 2026 in just weeks. We're making the case to host Canada's new Defence, Security & Resilience Bank. When Vancouver delivers, Canada delivers. The priorities of Vancouverites are also national priorities; affordability, more homes built faster, safer streets, and the infrastructure a growing city needs. I'm grateful for a Prime Minister who is ready to be a real partner on every one of them. Together, we are going to keep building a Vancouver, and a Canada, that works for the people who call it home.

400 volunteers came together on a beautiful Saturday morning, knocking on doors across South Vancouver to support @Vote4ABC & @KenSimCity. The energy, passion, and dedication were incredible. This is what community support looks like when people believe in building a stronger, safer, more affordable, and more vibrant city for everyone. While some choose to fight ideology online as keyboard warriors, we’re out in the community — talking to real people, listening to real concerns, and having real conversations at the doorstep. 🙌

It was amazing to see ABC volunteers and supporters coming out in full force for an incredible day of door-knocking. More than 400 people hit the doors listening to residents across Vancouver. What we’re hearing is clear: people care deeply about affordability and public safety, and they appreciate the work ABC is doing to get things done for the city. The choice in this election is clear. We can either go back to the chaos and disorder of the past, or we can keep moving forward to make Vancouver safer and more affordable. There is still a lot of work ahead, but our promise is simple: we will keep fighting for the soul of this city right alongside you. #abcvancouver #publicsafety #affordablitily @PeterMeiszner @LisaDominato @sarahkirby_yung @MikeKlassen @LennyNanZhou

No. Before negotiating with Alberta the industrial carbon price was set to increase to $170 per tonne by 2030. Alberta’s negotiations reduced it to $130 by 2035, giving industry certainty and saving them $250 billion in compliance costs.
Carney: Before negotiating with the Alberta government the industrial carbon tax was $20/tonne. Now, Carney says it will be “six and a half times that price” by 2040. Brace for big industrial carbon tax hikes.

Vancouver renters are finally getting relief because we’re building more homes and removing the barriers that drive costs up. That’s not by accident; when you make it faster and easier to build, rents stop climbing and start coming down. See my full statement below:
