What an unforgettable day! Yesterday marked a monumental win for the geroscience field and the longevity industry. California Senate Resolution 104 passed the floor with a unanimous 35-0 vote! Joining the presentation on the Senate floor were Dylan Livingston (Founder and CEO of A4LI), Sonia Arrison (Chair of the A4LI Board), Dr. Joon Yun, Remy Gross, and Sean Curran. We are beyond grateful to @SenJoshBecker and Senator Akilah Weber Pierson for introducing this historic resolution. The Alliance for Longevity Initiatives is excited to get to work and collaborate with LeadingAGE California, California Life Sciences, and the California Chronic Care Coalition on forward-thinking policies that promote aging biology research and public-private collaboration. By integrating longevity strategies into California's public health framework, SR-104 will optimize healthspans while driving significant long-term cost savings for the state!

🚶‍♀️🧠 How do aging and cognitive load influence the way we walk? In a new study, Peter Mukli (@pmukli86) and colleagues examined gait variability and complexity using advanced measures—including coefficient of variation, median absolute deviation, and permutation entropy—within the Semmelweis Study gait assessment framework. Their findings provide new insights into how aging and increased cognitive demands affect gait dynamics, highlighting the potential of digital gait biomarkers for detecting subtle age-related changes in mobility and cognitive-motor function. ❤️ Can targeting senescent cells improve heart health in obesity? A new study by Mahesh Kumar Sivasubramanian & Madhan Subramanian and colleagues demonstrates that senolytic treatment with dasatinib and quercetin selectively improves cardiac autonomic balance in obesity. These findings provide further evidence that cellular senescence contributes to obesity-related cardiovascular dysfunction and highlight the potential of senolytic therapies to improve cardiovascular health during aging. 🧠 Can subjective cognitive concerns signal early Alzheimer's disease risk? A new study by Ashleigh Barrett-Young (@sciashleigh) and colleagues found that plasma pTau181 levels were associated with subjective cognitive concerns in midlife adults, but not with objective cognitive decline or measures of structural brain integrity. These findings suggest that blood-based biomarkers may capture subtle changes related to perceived cognitive difficulties before measurable cognitive impairment becomes apparent.
