With 4 categories of social variation (large-scale to fine-scale) you can determine what influences societies of your taxa of interest. You can combine all four categories to get an outlook of social maintenance based on ecological and social context tested. Very exciting! 2/n

We modeled this framework with coral gobies (genus Gobiodon). Used both local and global ecological factors (eg: habitat size, location, climatic disturbances). Outlook for gobies: high loss of sociality due to climatic disturbances (cyclones, heatwaves) & likely ⬇️⬇️ survival

And the bad news - got the debrief on the status of our 500 Acropora cervicornis outplants in the Dry Tortugas. They are all dead or nearly dead. One of the best acroporid sites coral cover wise along the Florida Keys reef tract is now a wasteland. There are no words.
