.@realDonaldTrump’s aggressive trade policies have damaged the popularity of far-right politicians across Europe. Even previously staunch Euroskeptics now speak in pan-European terms, observes @HECParis’s @alemannoEU. (bit.ly/3YoTuqD)

You - not ‘Europe’ - makes our days dark. Nobody force you to stay with us!
Yesterday was a dark day for Europe. The @EPP Congress decided to support prolonging the war in Ukraine. They want to send more money to Ukraine, while the European economy suffers. What a shame!

I am sad to learn that Claus-Dieter Ehlermann has passed away. Claus was one of the historical figures who shaped EU integration through law. He was Director General of the European Commission's Legal Service, but also spokesperson of the Commission President, Director General of the Directorate General for Competition, and the 1st WTO Appellate Judge (for the EU). I had the incredible privilege of interviewing - and spending time with - Claus in the early 2000s, when I was a PhD student

“European Commission slammed for 'opaque' funding of NGOs” - BUT today's EU Court of Auditors report concluded that : “We did not find a single case during our audit of an NGO breaching EU values". Unlike what many MS are doing these days! euronews.com/my-europe/2025/…

If “Brussels” is so mean to you, why don’t you just leave the EU? Be serious and consistent.
❗️@PM_ViktorOrban: We saw it with our own eyes, heard it with our own ears—Tisza Party and Brussels have conspired against the Hungarian people. ❌They agreed to destroy Hungary’s economy, healthcare, and living standards just to help the Tisza Party into power. “This is a dark day for Hungarian democracy.” ❗️PM Orbán said MEPs were sent to Brussels to represent Hungarian interests, but today it was revealed that Tisza’s representatives are working against the Hungarian people. Those who work against Hungarians in Brussels must disappear from Hungarian public life.

Wow: the number of EU Commission meetings with external stakeholders have more than doubled than at this point during the last Commission mandate. Yet increased transparency has also revealed the Commission's increasing corporate bias: only 16% meetings with nonprofits @TI_EU #ngos integritywatch.eu/ecmeetings…

It turns out that much of US’ frustration with EU trade flows hasn’t to do with tariffs (average 3%), but with non-tariff barriers - that is EU regulations US importers must comply with. By boycotting @wto the US missed the chance to shape those regulations in both TBT and SPS committees. Self inflicted damage

Looks like the tariffs may go down in history as yet another announcement falling short of real implementation Wait and see appears the right approach : let US republicans, US consumer confidence and global markets do the job Much ado about nothing? Loss of trust will stay

NEW PAPER --> Could Le Pen's misuse of EU taxpayers' money & the Huawei scandal have been prevented by a more solid EU public integrity framework? After 5 years of work spent designing a new EU ethical authority, here’s a preliminary analysis of such a new ghost entity: it was agreed one year ago but it hasn't seen the light of the day (due to an EPP-led Venezuela majority voting against its implementation) papers.ssrn.com/sol3/papers.… #LePen #Huawei
