Gunnell Engineering specializes in the design of on-site septic systems. Projects include septic system design for residential and commercial applications.
Great event @GunnellEngineer!
We learned a lot about making sand, the costs, realities of QAQC and the need to start thinking above sand supplements & alternatives based on supply longevity & the pressures to meet CTD design specs for their custom sands
Thank you
đĄ Did you know?
Septic systems are vital in the treatment of various contaminants, especially E.coli đŚ
A proper functioning septic system protects groundwater and surface water from fecal contamination.
The presence of E.coli in water is an indication of contamination.
đ As the seasons change, so do the demands on your septic system. Fall is the perfect time to check for drainage issues before the ground freezes.
A small step now can save big headaches later.

Septic design is changing â Todayâs systems are smarter, longer-lasting, and more eco-friendly than ever.
Modern designs can include advanced treatment units and eco-friendly layouts that reduce impact on groundwater and nearby ecosystems.

Ever wondered what goes into a septic system designâ
Itâs more than just a tank in the ground...
We consider:
đŚSoil conditions
đŚLot area & setbacks
đŚTopography
đŚDaily design flow
đŚHousehold or site usage

The key to a septic system's longevity mostly relies on how well itâs designed for your property.
Every property is unique. Soil conditions, slope, water table depth, etc. â all of these affect how long a system will perform well.

Thatâs why thoughtful design is so important. A âone-size-fits-allâ approach just doesnât work.
And it's why weâre proud to do what we do.âď¸đź
đ¨ď¸Whatâs something about septic systems youâve always wondered about?

đ§Did you know a well-maintained septic system can last 20â30 years (sometimes longer)?
Regular inspections and the right design make all the difference.
Itâs one of those behind-the-scenes systems that keeps daily life running smoothly.

Septic systems have come a long way â modern designs are more efficient, eco-friendly, and easier to maintain than older setups. Upgrading isnât just about replacement, itâs about long-term reliability. #Septicsystem#engineeringleadership#Teamgunnell#designers
Great septic systems start with great design.
Thatâs why we develop site-specific solutions based on soil conditions, usage needs, and long-term performance.
Itâs not just engineering â itâs protecting your investment.

đTip Tuesday:
Always start your septic system design with a proper site and soil evaluation.
Itâs the key to long-term performance â and helps prevent costly issues down the line. #TipTuesday#SepticDesign#TeamGunnell

It was great to see everyone at the annual OOWA Conference in Ottawa! Congratulations to one of our own, Dominic, on receiving Young Professional of the Year award! See you in Niagara for #2026convention#ottawaconvention#OOWA#2025convention
DYK that OOWA is accepting presentation proposals for our 2024 Annual Convention & Expo? We offer #free promo on social media for all abstracts submitted before the Sept 29 #deadline. Thank you to Eric Gunnell of Gunnell Engineering for his abstract! buff.ly/45e5hZP
Anti-bacterial products are everywhere these days...and for good reason! Good old soap works to keep you safe as well though and is less harmful to your septic system! A good quick read: bit.ly/3pdjO4P Be #onsiteproud!
Remember that only the 3Ps go down the toilet: pee, poop, and toiletpaper! Anything else can cause #septic systems to stop working & may impact local lakes and rivers. In the city, #sewage backups could impact you & your neighbours. Yuck!
