The flip side is that Trump ran an awful campaign. He gave a terrible RNC speech, his VP was deeply unpopular, he lost the debate, he had no ground game to speak of, he offended key demographic groups ... and none of it mattered.
If Harris loses, there will be a lot of recriminations directed at her, but it's hard to point to any glaring mistakes that she made. She ran an excellent campaign.

The thing that has always annoyed me about this argument: Cats are primarily killing small, common birds. They aren’t receiving take permits from the U.S. government to kill golden eagles or California condors, which are endangered and highly protected.

I don’t want to hear anything else about the accelerating melting of Arctic sea ice. Predators actually kill far more mammals every year.

I cannot wait to make a chart of What Kills Mammals. I will use it to tell people should stop worrying about melting sea ice, since barely any mammals are at risk from that.

Using the word “birds” is unhelpful at best & deliberately misleading at worst. Cats and skyscrapers do not kill the same species that wind turbines do. This is like saying that we don’t have to worry about elephant poachers because cars kill far more mammals each year.
OK people, let's just stop this right here! the biggest killers of birds are CATS 🐈‍⬛ 🏙️SKYSCRAPERS are next wind turbines are ... last on the list 💚 ✨Please RT✨

Yep. If you’re authoring or championing a study like this you’ve got to be either mendacious or ignorant. I am hard-pressed to believe that an energy researcher could actually be ignorant of all this, and so I’m left with one conclusion.
Epic thread, full stop.

Greenpeace, once a noble organization that largely changed the world for the better, increasingly resembles Exxon, in that by now they very much know their product is deadly, but keep producing it anyway in order to maintain revenues.
The Nuclear Energy Summit happening in Brussels tomorrow is a distraction from real climate action. Nuclear power is too slow. Too expensive. Too dangerous. There's no time for #NuclearFairyTales. #NES2024
Community note
Characterizing nuclear as slow, expensive, dangerous is in conflict with following facts: "slow": Latest reactor is Barakah. 5600 MW / 10 years. 560 MW /year. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Barakah_n… "dangerous": One of safest sources of energy: ourworldindata.org/safest-sources… "expensive": Ontario finds only hydro is cheaper: ontario.ca/page/powering-… ...can be cheap

Greenpeace and its allies just won a court case in the Philippines blocking Golden Rice from reaching millions of vitamin A-deficient young children. If this isn't a crime against humanity, I don't know what is. Avoidable deaths could total 100,000s. More: spectator.co.uk/article/chil…

Polar regions warm faster than the rest of the world. This is happening now, and also happened millions of years ago when alligators and turtles used to live in the Arctic. Why? New research by D Dutta, @DrJucker, @StevenSherwood4, A Sen Gupta, @KatrinJM, and J Zhu. A thread 1/6
