Some recurring Persistence questions I've seen: 1. Does it apply to overguard? No, health only. 2. Does it work with frames with no shields. Yes! 3. Does it apply before or after DR. After. 4.Does it break the balance of the game? What balance?

I was going to discuss this on stream but I'm hoping that, by posting this here, smarter and/or more informed people than me might start asking/answering questions. There's been an aspect of VShojo's business model that people seem to have mostly glossed over: their status as a tech startup. In 2018, Justin "Gunrun" Ignacio co-founded Unlimited IRL: a company that sold streaming backpacks - an innovation that Gunrun himself claims to have pioneered. (Image source: "A Look Back at the IRL Backpack Inspired by LiveU Solo" by SVG News, published Monday, November 13, 2023) Gunrun also owned a website called "GUNRUN.TV" that hosted guides on how streamers could build their own streaming backpacks. Where this becomes interesting is in 2022, when VShojo announced that they'd managed to secure 11 million USD in venture capital funding from Anthos Capital, GFR Fund and Greenbay Ventures. When you read through the articles written by news outlets about this (presumably informed by press releases from VShojo itself), a recurring theme begins to develop: -"With its new financing, VShojo has a four-pronged plan for expanding its business. It wants to bring its Vtuber partners to gaming and anime cons while also working with them on content creation. It will also build up its IRL Backpack, which was developed by founder Justin “theGunrun” Ignacio to enable streaming on the go." (Vshojo works with Ironmouse and other popular Vtubers. It just secured $11 million in funding by Tubefilter, published March 16, 2022) -"Vtubing-focused talent agency VShojo has raised $11M in seed funding led by Athos Capital with participation from GFR Funds and Green Bay Ventures. The funding will be directed toward supporting new technology, merchandise, content creation and presence at events such as major conventions in the gaming and anime scenes." (VShojo, Talent Agency Focused on Avatar Live Streaming, Raises $11M by The Hollywood Reporter, published March 16, 2022) -"VShojo, a leading VTuber company in the U.S., has raised $11 million in its most recent round of investment. It plans to use the proceeds to further grow the VTuber community across the entertainment industry. Specifically, this most recent round of funding led by Anthos Capital, GFR Fund, and Green Bay Ventures will be used to invest in new technology and enhance VTubers’ presence at events, with merchandise, and in content creation spaces across multiple platforms."(VShojo raises $11 million in investment round to grow the VTuber community by DotEsports, published March 16, 2022). In 2024, Gunrun updated GUNRUN.TV with the following statement explaining that he'd stepped away from making streaming backpack guides since 2020 due to being busy running VShojo (shown below). His website now directed visitors directly to UnlimitedIRL. It is not uncommon for companies with large amounts of venture capital to burn to try investing in other, smaller companies that show growth potential. This is an appealing risk because the success of said smaller companies have the potential to completely turn around the investor's PR and funding (not necessarily because their profits are enough to cover pre-existing debts/costs, but because said success tends to lure in more venture capital). We even have an example of exactly this happening in the VTubing industry: Brave Group's acquisition of VSPO - which allowed them to become the giant they are today. Given these facts (and the very real possibility of Gunrun having a classic case of SanFran techbro brainrot), it's not unreasonable to start asking the following questions: -How much of VShojo's funding was invested into the development of streaming backpacks? -Were there any other technologies that VShojo and/or Gunrun specifically were looking to develop/invest in? If so, how much of VShojo's funding was invested into said technologies? -Have any of the companies affiliated with Gunrun received funds from VShojo directly and/or indirectly? Given that Gunrun just publicly admitted to embezzling funds that had been set aside for charity in order to pay company debts, I don't think any of these scenarios are completely out of the question. Nyanners also recently stated that the IRL streaming backpacks were riddled with tech issues, so it's pretty safe to say that they were a questionable investment at best. What's to say that there aren't other, similarly questionable investments that were made within VShojo's purview of "supporting new technology?" 11 million doesn't just disappear overnight.

and so our NDAs are now void why i left VSHOJO - back in 2023, vshojo tried to bully me into one of the most predatory contracts that i have ever seen. when i tried to ask more about it, their COO got extremely hostile with me and refused to answer any of my questions and so i had to hire a lawyer in order to get some clarification. during the talks, it became clear that vshojo would rather let me go than to take less away from me. they were ultimately wanting me to give up more than half of all my sponsor revenue and over 60% of all merch sales. all i asked from them in return, is to not take a cut of the sponsors that i was getting through Mythic, as that cut was already being taken. they said no, they want it all. and so i asked to leave after being treated like i was disposable in our talks. they basically made it seem like they were my employer, and that they're the reason for my success. that i owe them and that i should be happy to give them my money. in order for me to leave, they demanded i sign an nda that prevented me from speaking to any of the other talent about it. i could not say why i was leaving, i could not say what the terms that i was saying no to were. i even got in trouble for advising them to hire their own attorneys. they would watch my streams, read my discord, and then threaten to sue me. if i said anything that hinted towards how i really felt about the company, i was threatened with a lawsuit. another one of their leave terms was that they will announce both me and silver on the same day in order to minimize the damage to their company. their COO has begun to push a narrative on 4chan (yes im serious lmfao) and other social media that i am leaving because i plan to join OTK and that both me and silvervale are troublemakers, so they were "letting" us go. later i found out that nyanners wanted to leave around the same time due to also being unhappy with the contract, but was told that she couldn't because it did not fit their narrative that they were pushing internally AND externally. the amount of hate we've gotten over leaving, from fans calling us greedy bitches to people saying we're abandoning our friends and tossing aside the company because we're successful enough, shit was fucking painful. not being able to say anything sucked. i only found out i didn't get paid for any of my sponsors after i had already signed the NDA. after 2 years, i have still not been paid back fully. to add insult to injury, they also demanded i had to pay them back 10k for some of the anniversary assets which when they sent me back months later, were half finished. despite all of that, i've had immense faith that the company has gotten better over the past 2 years. i assumed they rewrote their contracts after losing 3 people due to them and seeing all the new talent join. clearly this was not the case. now for some fun facts !! - their company lawyer has an expired law license. he literally does not practice law anymore, yet he was our point of contact for any legal help we needed. - they actively pitted us against one another during my time there, and compared our success to others. they tried enforcing streaming schedules so that our viewcount would look better due to less overlap. - they would ALWAYS shit talk other vtuber agencies. they literally would spend company money to get a tiny dig at them. especially hololive, it literally lived rentfree in gunruns head. they were convinced hololive was over when they signed kson and nazuna. - our previous talent manager got ghosted for 6 months by gunrun, told not to do any work for us and then got fired for "not doing anything". during this fiasco, we weren't able to get any assistance. - MTD got reprimanded for being creepy to us. lol. got told not to message us privately. go figure. - i have proof from other streamers attending their IRL parties that MTD would actively shit talk me after i left the company, to paint me in the worst light imaginabe. dunno why ur acting innocent on twitter pretending u werent aware of anything, can't wait to see all the shit that comes out about you because there's LOADS but those aren't my stories to tell. thanks for reading and thanks to those who stuck around between then and now. thank you for giving me, silver and nyan the benefit of the doubt when we needed it most. 💙

Worst case scenario has just occurred. Vtubers were independent contractors under VShojo, which means that in the event of bankruptcy, they’re the least important party to get paid. No one is getting their money, it’s actually over. What a disaster.
