Rwanda’s tourism revenue grew by 74.5% between 2011 & 2017, rising from US $251.8 million to US $438 million — all before the Arsenal partnership. According to both the World Bank & the RDB, Rwanda’s tourism industry was already performing strongly prior to the sponsorship deal.
When announcing the termination of the deal, RDB stated: “Visitor arrivals reached 1.3 million in 2024 with tourism revenues rising to US $650 million, a 47% increase since the partnership began.”
However, RDB’s own 2017 Annual Report recorded 1.5 million international non-resident arrivals— figures that already surpassed the numbers cited for 2024.
@RDBrwanda & @RwandaGov should therefore explain what concrete benefits the Arsenal partnership delivered to the country. @YolandeMakolo @cakamanzi @afrika_jean
