The Insulin Resistance Tree Bookmark and share this. Research has linked insulin resistance and hyperinsulinemia to a wide range of metabolic disorders, including: • Type 2 diabetes • Obesity • Fatty liver disease • PCOS • Hypertension • Cardiovascular disease • Elevated triglycerides • Metabolic syndrome • Gout Emerging research is also exploring its links with conditions such as cognitive decline, dementia, inflammation, and other chronic diseases. The challenge is that insulin resistance can remain undetected for years while blood glucose levels still appear "normal." Perhaps it's time to move beyond a glucose-centric view of health and pay more attention to the underlying metabolic dysfunction. The branches may look different. But in many cases, the root may be the same. Understanding insulin resistance may be one of the first steps toward understanding the modern metabolic health crisis.

Gut microbiome dysbiosis and cancer: A systematic review on the emerging role of probiotics in oncology ✅️ Probiotics appear to be a promising adjunct for supportive care in selected cancer pathways, particularly for GI toxicity & perioperative outcomes. Strain-defined, adequately powered trials with harmonized endpoints are needed to inform guideline-ready use. Highlights: ▶️ Probiotics may reduce severe diarrhea during fluoropyrimidine/irinotecan therapy ▶️ Pooled evidence suggests fewer nausea/vomiting, bloating & anorexia w/probiotics ▶️ Perioperative probiotics/synbiotics may speed GI recovery after GI cancer surgery ▶️ RCTs suggest fewer postoperative infections & shorter stay after CRC surgery ▶️ Trials show reassuring safety; rare serious infections may occur in high-risk patients sciencedirect.com/science/ar… @DHPSP

Inflammaging and Sarcopenia as Interconnected Hallmarks of Aging: Integrative Roles of Bioactive Compounds and Lifestyle Interventions ▶️ Age-related functional decline is increasingly linked to chronic low-grade inflammation (inflammaging) & sarcopenia, two interconnected processes contributing to frailty, metabolic dysregulation, & impaired physical function. ✅️ Natural bioactive compounds & lifestyle-based interventions represent promising approaches for targeting biological processes implicated in inflammaging & sarcopenia. ✅️ This review highlights the importance of adaptive redox regulation, metabolic resilience, & evidence-based lifestyle strategies in healthy aging. mdpi.com/2072-6643/18/12/192… @HealthyFellow @DHPSP Conceptual schematic framework illustrating hypothesized and partially evidence-supported interactions among lifestyle interventions, bioactive compounds, molecular signaling pathways, & functional outcomes in healthy aging. The figure is intended for conceptual interpretation & does not imply direct causal relationships for all depicted interactions.

India's Biggest Therapy Area Is Cardiovascular Disease. According to IQVIA TSA data (May 2026), the Cardiac therapy segment recorded sales of ₹3,196 crore (approximately US$375 million) in a single month, making it one of the largest therapy areas in India. What's even more noteworthy is that the cardiac segment continues to show strong double-digit growth. This raises an important question: Are we doing enough to prevent cardiovascular disease? The singular focus on just "cholesterol" needs to evolve. Cardiovascular disease is complex, and due importance should also be given to factors such as: • Insulin resistance • Type 2 diabetes • Obesity • Hypertension • Fatty liver disease • Chronic inflammation Many of these conditions share a common metabolic foundation and often coexist long before a heart attack, stroke, or cardiac procedure occurs. Perhaps the future of cardiology lies not only in better drugs and procedures, but also in better metabolic health. The biggest therapy area in India may be telling us where the real health crisis lies.

Posting my random blood sugar again. Some people don't like me posting it regularly. I do it because I want to show that long-term Type 2 diabetes remission is possible and sustainable. It is possible to maintain blood sugar levels like this even after more than 10 years of living with Type 2 diabetes. My goal is to a role model & inspire others to take charge of their metabolic health and manage their blood sugars well - whether through medication, a low-carbohydrate lifestyle, or a combination of both. If my journey helps even one person believe that better health is possible, then it's worth sharing.
