The observatory telescope made from curtain poles, ply and even used bike tires. Through it you could see Jupiter’s moons! #amazingspaces #channel4 #handmade #telescopes

Every year i see suggestions that you recycle pumpkins as bird feeders sometimes from celebrities!!! Please do NOT do this the seed will go mouldy and poison the birds you wish to help. Avoid at all costs

Not the best week... general feeling of torpor- didn’t get any running in, generally listless. This will pass but it’s frustrating while it lasts. #doodleaday #widowerlife #inabitofarut

Today is #worldfishmigrationday, so we had to share photos of the leaping salmon at Shrewsbury weir, thanks to @2peters! Check out @SevernUnlocked, a huge project to install fish passes in the #RiverSevern - they have virtual events all week to help you learn more. #happyfish

In autumn, help amphibians by removing decaying plants and leaves from garden ponds! This material produces gases which can poison hibernating frogs and other wildlife if the pond freezes over in winter 🍂🐸💦

This painting is beautiful. This is what I think off when Maggie Vandewalle’s name is mentioned. I love her hare paintings and this one is special as he’s here in Autumn for us to see.

The UK has two endemic subspecies of #stonefly. This is Capnia vidua anglica which only measures 5mm and is typically found at high altitudes. It differs from other subspecies of C. vidua in being micropterous, particularly in the male and in the shape of the male epiproct.

We need to look at it this way: chalkstreams are our rainforests. Very rare precious ecosystems. ‘Some sewage’ is NOT alright. It’s just not. We are hosting COP26 next year. Get our own house in order. Now
Back again still won’t let it go. In 2019 water companies spent more than 1,500,000 hours dumping sewage into rivers in England. Assuming that you’ve now read the judgement, feel free to explain what the “Exceptional circumstances”, were that allowed that to happen. See ya.

The River Lark, Norfolk chalk stream, over abstracted, beaten almost to death, this week is battling once again for survival. River fly surveys have collapsed and fish are dying. Last year @AnglianWater spent 1,462 hours dumping sewage into the Lark on 75 separate occasions.

Sadly only to get worse post #Brexit unless campaigners voices are heard, like @Feargal_Sharkey @sascampaigns
A tale of 2 rivers. One is a designated SSSI full of soil and the other is an urban trout river with bankside trees full of wet wipes and sanitary waste. 🤮 #riverteme #worcester #riverchelt #cheltenham Things have got to change! This is no way to treat our precious rivers!
