I'm generally not a fan of Ohio Gov. Mike DeWine, a Republican in his second term, but I greatly appreciate his empathy and common sense when it comes to trans rights.
Today, he vetoed a bill that would have banned gender-affirming care for kids and banned trans kids in sports.
He made it clear that the government needs to mind its own business and defer to parents and medical experts when it comes to the health care of their children.
Given the incredibly volatile state of trans rights in our country at the moment, I believe it shows exceptional integrity to overrule his own party and stand beside trans kids and their parents.
Well done, Sir.
