If you’ve ever wondered how cells tune positioning of organelles in response to cell shape change, please check out our new manuscript - mRNA trafficking controls cell-size-scaled organelle dynamics! nature.com/articles/s41467-0…
Our first post in 4-years! Very excited to share our work just published in @ScienceMagazine. We find that “Interphase cell morphology defines the mode, symmetry, and outcome of mitosis” – in angiogenesis and other tissues! science.org/doi/abs/10.1126/…
Do you love RNA? Optogenetics? Developmental Biology? Then we have the perfect job for you!!

Despite the national lockdown the 3rd North of England Developmental Biology (virtual) Symposium is still going forward on the 15th of January! Registration is free and everyone is welcome! Join us at: bit.ly/39WfbWq
Our first RNA localisation publication! Fantastic effort from Guilherme Costa (now group leader @QUBelfast), and @joshjbradbury and Nawseen Tarannum embopress.org/doi/full/10.15…
Hypothesising that these RNAs share a common localisation mechanism, we then used the MS2 system to identify a shared 3’UTR motif that directed localisation to sites of emerging filopodia.
Perturbation of RNA targeting by genomic excision of localisation elements caused filopodia to depolarise in cultured endothelial cells and, importantly, caused mispatterning of blood vessels in vivo!
Excited to see that my first, first-author paper with @samgriffjon and @PapalopuluLab is now out! Do you work on dynamically expressed proteins? Probably. Check to see if your favourite transcriptional regulator features in our results.

With just 1 day to go, our last featured speaker is Sabrina Ghadaouia @sabrinaghd from the @HerbertLab in Manchester! She studies how endothelial cells integrate cell division with collective cell migration during zebrafish angiogenesis. @Official_BSCB @BSocietyDevBiol #CBDB19
