Under the normal law an arrested person must be produced before a judge within 3 days. Under the #PTA Police can keep him/her for 1 year. It gives the Police enough time to create a case, cook up witnesses & coerce confessions. PTA is dangerous, draconian and must be repealed.

We encourage authorities in #SriLanka to reconsider the decision to use the Prevention of Terrorism Act given the #PTA is widely seen as inconsistent with democratic norms and respect for human rights.

I support the @IUSFSL. They have stood up for Sri Lanka now and have been standing and getting water-cannoned, tear gassed, and scorned for decades. We must learn the lesson of last century and listen to our young people. They're right.
