There is currently an interesting weather constellation in #okinawa: after a first typhoon a week ago, the last days’ weather resembles a tropical storm, but with a sharp low-pressure trough line running like a race track from Taiwan all the way to Kyushu; southerly winds east of this line and northerly west of it, with rapidly changing heavy rain and thunderstorms. #meteorolgy

Fantastic paper by @JamesBeanBio on phage Bas63 - this has been one of the first phages I ever isolated just for fun as a PhD student (in 2012!). It's #2 on this plate of Rhine river water on an E.coli K-12 lawn....

The HPV vaccine is the SECOND most dangerous vaccine per VAERS. Nobody should take it.
The people pushing it like @simonmaechling are badly misinformed about the risk / benefit.

VAERS does not rank vaccines by "danger," as it collects unverified reports without proving causation or adjusting for doses given. A more recent addition to our #cryoem GPU servers for @cryosparc live SPA processing of @JEOL_Japan #cryoARM data from @DirectElectron Apollo cameras:
GigaByte 2U dual Epyc w/64TB NVMe flash paired w/ a small-ish 400TB Supermicro 36-HDD TrueNAS storage server for raw data. The GigaByte has up to 8 GPUs, currently 6 (2x RTX5080, 1x 3080, 1x 4070, 2x2080Ti) after removing their fans and trimming the cooling blades to make them fit. Temps are no problem, max 60C. 😊

This recent article in @JVirology is a treat for researchers with interest in #picornaviruses. The team @mihnea_bostina Lab reconstructed essentially all intermediate states of uncoating of the oncolytic Seneca Valley Virus from only a few hundred electron micrographs.
