Update: I got a distinction šŸ¤“šŸ¤Æ

Replying to @HolstaT
I just finished a graduate diploma in law at City University. In the last three weeks I’ve done seven 24-hour exams, in each of which I wrote 4,500 words of legal analysis. I finished each exam a few hours early to go to work, so it came to 31,500 words in less than six days.

I have very few friends working full time who aren’t having to subsidise their income with a second job. Most people I know spend >50% of their take home pay on rent. We wonder why hospitality is on its knees. Landlords have all our money !

Britain doesn't need a trade deal with America and the low-quality debate on the matter only serves one Nigel Farage. My first proper Substack... Trump’s trade wars are no good reason to beg for a bad deal with America open.substack.com/pub/lukemc…

The news re Meta fact-checking is obv v bleak, but spare a thought for its hateful conduct policy update. Facebook and Instagram users are now allowed to refer to women as "household objects or property,ā€ and ā€œtransgender or non-binary people as ā€˜it’.ā€

Trump says he thinks the changes are "probably" due to threats he's made against Zuckerberg in the past.

Well, this headline marks an insidious new turn on the usual 'he was a good man' femicide narratives. As debates on assisted suicide continue, it's important to remain vigilant against narratives that mask acts of violence as compassion. āž”ļø dailymail.co.uk/news/article…

"perhaps drinking alcohol" - imagine if he saw Westminster
Earl Blumenauer on Congress: ā€œYou’ve got a bunch of people who are far from home, inadequately nourished, overly caffeinated, perhaps drinking alcohol, often sleep deprived, cranky, and constantly plunged into uncertainty about their schedule and travel. theatlantic.com/ideas/archiv…

Trump has called dead soldiers "losers," blamed the late Sen. John McCain for being captured and tried to disenfranchise Florida military serving abroad, but he'll roll out the red carpet for a former Marine who choked a homeless man to death on the subway eu.usatoday.com/story/news/p…

Men’s professional protection of each other is deadly to women, who remain underserved by the very services designed to help them.
It can now be revealed that a review by the Crown Prosecution Service found 12 members of NHS staff — 2 doctors, 9 nurses and 1 pharmacist — all failed in their duty of care to Laura Higginson. But the CPS concluded it did not meet the threshold for prosecution.

Really don't know how the "checks and balances" crowd can parse Jack Smith dropping his charges against Trump. He really is just doing whatever he wants with impunity now. The system can't (or won't) stop him.

Hey! I'm so glad you reached out. I'm actually holding space with the lyrics of Defying Gravity right now, and I don't think I can hold appropriate space for you. Could we connect [later date or time] instead / Do you have someone else you could reach out to?

***Lots*** to pick apart about Gladiator II, but it's v nice for a sequel to showcase an older female lead without chucking in a young hot actress to "balance it out"? (Esp alongside a male lead who is v obv eye candy) (respectfully)

Also, if you're wavering: The script leaves a lot to be desired, but Denzel makes it all worthwhile!

Still absolutely poleaxed by the absence of my large furry son stealing my chair, asking to play catch, coming to tell me about his walk, and guarding me while I work.

Sorry to be grossly personal online, but I kinda feel why not, at this point. We had to put Harvey to sleep. It took 2.5 hours and five people to hold him, due to him being an absolute unit. The vets said they'd never met a dog who tried so hard to stay. Wrote about itĀ >>
