🤔 I lean to the conclusion the US has no intention whatsoever to abide by the terms Iran is dictating. They just don't know what else to do at the moment. So they're buying themselves a few days to ponder the problem.
Meanwhile, US bases in the region remain indefensible.
The immediate fault line in the US-Iran MOU is Lebanon. Iranian sources claim missiles were readied after yesterday's Beirut strike and that this time just the *threat* of retaliation extracted new US concessions and a supposed reprimanding of Israel.
Yet, if Israel continues to push, the burden will fall on Iranian decisionmakers to act or risk losing credibility at home, in Lebanon among Hezbollah's base, and among friends and foes alike regionally and globally.
Therefore, in the immediate term at least, the deal's future will likely hinge on Lebanon.
