This study validates a previously reported bronchial signature of bronchiectasis in nasal epithelium. Changes in gene expression and cell-type composition associated with radiological bronchiectasis are similar across both bronchial and nasal epithelia. bit.ly/4qgq7SO

A study 10 years in the making, just published in @LancetRespirMed How do DPP1 inhibitors really work in bronchiectasis? We show a novel mechanism for treatment efficacy, by inhibiting Azurocidin-1, a ciliotoxin, DPP1i can enhance mucociliary clearance. thelancet.com/journals/lanre…

People often ask how breakthroughs occur in cancer biology-often the story is more complex - the survival plot for myeloma outcomes is extraordinary - improvements come about in incremental steps - in my lifetime treatment of Myeloma has almost transformed into a curable disease

It makes no sense to me to close roads and dig them up just before a 4 day bank holiday with the disruption inevitably being extended by 4 more days? @MayorofLondon can you make it prohibitively expensive to do this? @CadentGasLtd @UKPowerNetworks @thameswater

@DHSCgovuk @wesstreeting Resident doctor strikes have highlighted all sorts of issues. Not least the inefficient process to sign up to the bank to locum. Why do occupational health checks have to be in person? And why can’t in person ID checks be at the nearest hospital HR? 1/

I suspect it is easier signing up for locum agencies - which are more costly for Trusts and by extension, taxpayers. 2/

This data from the charity @asthmalunguk was kindly highlighted to the public by @tobithomas_ and @guardian. Asthma and COPD remain common and major causes of ill health and death both in the UK and globally, yet both are underfunded (especially COPD).
“A stark and avoidable injustice in respiratory health” ⚖️ This, in the words of @HugoResp, is the situation laid bare by a recent analysis of NHS admissions data by @asthmalunguk 🫁 Dr Farne was interviewed as part of @guardian coverage of the study: theguardian.com/society/2025…

@AmazonHelp @AmazonAlexa Disappointed that an Echo Show I gifted my sister for Christmas mainly for the drop in function (to use with my ageing not tech savvy parents and my young kids with no phones) does not support drop in currently. They’ve now unplugged it ☹️

They were sceptical about its usefulness as “it doesn’t do anything you can’t do with a phone” - but “drop in” is different. Would appreciate an update when the software fix is ready so I can tell them to plug it back in.

Restricting access to suicide methods is one of the best evidenced approaches to prevention. Barriers on bridges, limits on paracetamol & in developing countries, a ban on pesticides. New review by my Manchester colleagues & friends. 1st author @SarahESteeg
📢 New Research 👇🏼 Does restricting access to lethal means prevent suicide? An umbrella review in @BMJMentalHealth finds strong evidence for physical barriers, pesticide bans & reduced paracetamol pack sizes, though study quality varies & LMIC data are scarce. @TfL @ImperialNHS @imperialcollege @ImperialNHLI @ImperialCharity 0.6 miles / 13 min walk from the nearest Santander Cycle stop to Hammersmith / Queen Charlotte Hospital & Imperial College’s site there. Lots of staff! Any chance of a stop on site? Help us exercise!

The nearest stop (junction of Wood Lane and Westway) has been closed for 3 weeks to re-lay paving slabs. This has added yet another 10mins to my commute! Another reason for a stop closer to the Hammersmith Hospital campus.

@CityWestminster @limebike @TfL Ongoing problem with Lime bikes obstructing TfL cycle docks on South Wharf Road. I report as often as I can and have time. Please consider making this a “no parking” zone for Lime bikes obstructing TfL /- creating a dedicated space for them.

Worse today - last day of tube strikes. I can only report 5 of these. When will you make this a non parking zone @limebike? When will you create an e-bike parking area @CityWestminster? Disruptive for @ImperialNHS
