نه به شجاعت‌فروشی از راه دور! هیچ‌کس حق ندارد از ساحل امن، برای مردمی که زیر سایه سرکوب، فقر، زندان و گلوله زندگی می‌کنند نسخه بپیچد. هیچ‌کس حق ندارد از هزاران کیلومتر دورتر به شهروندان افغانستان بگوید که باید اعتراض کنند یا نباید اعتراض کنند. این مردم خودشان هر روز با واقعیت طالبان زندگی می‌کنند و بهتر از هر ناظر بیرونی می‌دانند که چه هزینه‌ای باید بپردازند و چه تصمیمی بگیرند. من همواره معتقد بوده‌ام که طالبان نه به گفت‌وگو باور دارد، نه به مطالبه مدنی و نه به صدای اعتراض. گروهی که با زور به قدرت رسیده و با زور حکومت می‌کند، زبان دیگری جز زور را نمی‌شناسد. به همین دلیل، طالبان یک حکومت عادی نیست که با تجمع خیابانی شرمنده شود یا در برابر مطالبات مدنی عقب‌نشینی کند. این گروه از نخستین روز پیدایش تا امروز نشان داده که زبان اعتراض مسالمت‌آمیز را نمی‌فهمد و برای جان انسان‌ها ارزشی قائل نیست. فرستادن مردمی با دست‌های خالی به مصاف حکومتی ایدئولوژیک، بی‌رحم و تا دندان مسلح، دفاع از مقاومت نیست؛ بازی کردن با جان انسان‌هاست. همدلی با مردم افغانستان به معنای تشویق دیگران به پرداخت هزینه‌ای نیست که خودمان قرار نیست بپردازیم. احترام به مردم افغانستان یعنی پذیرفتن اینکه آنان خود بهتر از هر کسی شرایط، توانایی‌ها، محدودیت‌ها و راه‌های مقاومتشان را می‌شناسند و نیازی به قهرمان‌سازی و نسخه بیرونی ندارند.

I have received dozens of images of children killed in Pakistan’s airstrikes last night in Afghanistan’s Khost, Kunar, and Paktika provinces. The pictures are too graphic to share here. The airstrikes hit civilian homes and killing at least 13 people, including 11 children, while injuring 14 others, mostly children and women. Why the hell is the world so quiet? Why does the blood of Afghanistan children not shake the conscience of those who lecture us every day about human rights, international law, and civilian protection? Pakistan from sponsering terrorism has now shifted to behaving like a terror regime. Bombing children in their homes and this crime must not be forgotten. Pakistan must answer for the blood of these children.
