When Ls are empowered with the #ICL_Opportunities to apply their conceptual learnings to their personal passions, not only are the resulting projects inspiring….Their motivation grows learning deepens/sticks identity transforms/develops. 👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼
Once again, I am reminded of the power in accessing student passion. In applied stats they were given freedom to choose what to explore and learn. A mini thread.
Visualizing identity complexities and inviting learners (of all ages) to make connections provides : 1) #ICL_Introductions to different identities and identity challenges 2) #ICL_Opportunities to reflect, explore, express, and connect about their developing identities. 👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼
When learners are given constant #ICL_Opportunities to ask big questions in the classroom, they’ll start digging into identity. Those are the biggest questions, after all.

These kids amaze me on a daily basis - facilitated an intro workshop on #SDGs for kids who are new to the school this year & had 4 existing kids help out. They ended up running the sesh, using their own words in Vietnamese & English. New kids asked them so many Qs!
#ICLenvironments Our classroom walls are powerful platforms to affirm identities and spark new understandings. @emilymeadowsorg created posters at the intersection of LGBTQ inclusion and linguistic/cultural identity.
