On #WorldFoodSafetyDay, we feature this research from #Bangaldesh which examines disease management in tilapia farming. While antibiotic use was relatively low, many farmers lacked access to veterinary advice, basic biosecurity measures, and awareness of #AMR risks.
The findings point to the need for better farmer training, veterinary services, diagnostics, and preventive health approaches to support safer and more sustainable aquaculture.

@IFPRI & @icarindia convened a panel discussion on “Conflict in West Asia: Understanding Implications for India’s Fertilizer Sector & Economy” to examine how geopolitical tensions could impact fertilizer availability, food production, farmer incomes & economic stability in India.
Discussions highlighted India’s dependence on imported #LNG, #fertilizers & raw materials, alongside the need to:
✅ Improve fertilizer-use efficiency
✅ Reduce excessive urea dependence
✅ Strengthen smart subsidy systems
✅ Scale #green#ammonia & alternative fertilizers
From soil health & climate shocks to market volatility and subsidy burdens, participants emphasized the need for coordinated action across #agriculture, #energy, #trade, and #research#systems to build resilient and sustainable farming systems for the future.
