The Ebola outbreak in the Democratic Republic of the Congo is escalating, with cases spreading across provinces and into neighbouring Uganda. The @IFRC_DREF has already mobilized CHF 2 million to support the Red Cross of the Democratic Republic of the Congo in responding to the outbreak. In Uganda, where a Bundibugyo Ebola Virus Disease outbreak has been confirmed, an additional CHF 521,073 has been allocated through the IFRC-DREF to support preparedness and response efforts over the next six months. This support will help strengthen community-based surveillance, risk communication and community engagement, infection prevention and control, safe and dignified burials, psychosocial support and emergency referrals. Together, these DREF operations are helping communities access reliable health information, detect cases early, reduce transmission risks and protect vulnerable people from the health and socio-economic impacts of Ebola. @ifrc @IFRCAfrica #DREFinAction

Today, the @IFRC was pleased to co-host the launch of the Anticipation Hub’s flagship report, “Anticipatory Action in 2025: A global overview.” The task now is clear: make anticipatory action a standard function of governance, embedded in national systems, financing structures and political decision-making. The message is simple: early warnings only save lives when they lead to early action. This is at the heart of the Early Warnings for All initiative, where IFRC leads on Pillar 4: preparedness to respond to warnings. We must move from early warning systems to early warning and early action systems.
