It has come to the notice through some candidates and their parents that inaccurate and fabricated data purportedly showing candidate ranks, total marks, and inter-paper mark differentials for JEE (Advanced) 2026 are being widely circulated on the internet and across social media platforms. In this regard, it is stated unambiguously that the information in circulation is factually incorrect. None of the data appearing in the circulated lists corresponds to any officially released record. The substantial difference in marks obtained in paper 1 and paper 2 is observed only for 2 candidates out of the top 10000 candidates. It is not very surprising as the variation in marks between the two papers is an observed and well documented phenomenon that has been tracked and analysed by the conducting authority every year. There is nothing exceptional or anomalous about the 2026 results. Comprehensive verification of all examination records and related data has been carried out. No evidence whatsoever of cheating, malpractice, unauthorized assistance, data manipulation, or any compromise of the examination process has been found at any stage of JEE (Advanced) 2026.

In Memoriam | Prof. Jaydip Barman It is with profound sadness that the IIT Kharagpur community mourns the passing of Prof. Jaydip Barman, former Professor and Head, Department of Architecture and Regional Planning. An esteemed academician, mentor, and distinguished alumnus of IIT Kharagpur (MCP, 1986; PhD, 2004), Prof. Barman joined the Institute as a faculty member in 1987 and dedicated nearly four decades to advancing education, research, and institutional development. His scholarly contributions in the fields of architecture, interior design, and urban design enriched the academic landscape and influenced generations of students and professionals. A passionate teacher and thoughtful guide, Prof. Barman inspired his students to engage critically with the built environment while fostering creativity, social responsibility, and design excellence. Beyond his academic achievements, he was deeply respected for his humility, generosity, and unwavering commitment to the Institute and its community. His enduring legacy will continue to inspire future generations of architects, planners, and scholars. A teacher who inspired generations. A mentor who shaped countless journeys. Claims of a data breach and privacy violation affecting lakhs of JEE (Advanced) aspirants are misleading and factually incorrect. The information circulating on social media is misleading and does not accurately reflect what happened. There is an attempt at spreading misinformation, which is far from the truth. On 2nd June 2026, certain technical interventions were undertaken on an expedited basis to assist candidates experiencing difficulties in accessing admit card data and to ensure the smooth functioning of the registration process. These interventions resulted in a minimal, temporary misconfiguration in a cloud storage component. An ethical hacker, Mr. Rylen Anil, identified this misconfiguration and reported that he could access the concerned database. The issue was immediately rectified and access to the data was restricted. The affected storage was read only, meaning no data could be edited or deleted. An analysis of cloud access logs confirmed that no bulk download occurred (the read-only access was limited to less than 0.05% of the data). No sensitive information was compromised or mass-extracted. This incident had zero impact on examination outcomes, including marks, ranks, and category of the candidates. IIT Roorkee remains fully committed to maintaining the integrity, security, and transparency of the JEE (Advanced) and JoSAA counselling processes. Deliberate attempts to misrepresent this technical event and undermine public trust in the examination system are deeply concerning and should be discouraged. @IITKgp is pleased to announce the launch of a collaborative project with ITC Limited and the Centre of Excellence in Advanced Manufacturing Technology (CoEAMT) to develop an AI-backed Upskillment Platform for Dynamic Training in Engineering and Manufacturing. The project is being led by Prof. Surjya K. Pal, Founding Chairperson, CoEAMT and Dean (R&D), IIT Kharagpur, together with Prof. Partha P. Chakrabarti, Former Director, IIT Kharagpur, and Prof. Debashish Chakravarty. As part of this initiative, a Virtual Reality (VR)-based welding simulation platform has already been developed, enabling trainees to acquire practical welding skills in an immersive, safe, and interactive virtual environment. The platform is designed to enhance learning outcomes, improve workforce readiness, and support industry-driven skill development. By integrating Artificial Intelligence, Virtual Reality, and advanced digital technologies, the project aims to create adaptive and future-ready training solutions that address the evolving needs of the engineering and manufacturing sectors.
