Great to see the effect size of each. Thank you for this work!
Over the past 7 months I have been working on a meta analysis with colleagues to answer the question: What type of reading comprehension instruction creates the biggest transfer effect. I am submitting for peer review today, so I put a summary on the blog teachingbyscience.com/readin…

We did a presentation at our school today for ProD too. I think it was a success and we were able to help some teachers learn about structured literacy, how we learn to read and possible resources to use.

#Dyslexia is identifiable at 5 years using a screener. Children who continue to have reading, spelling and writing difficulties at age 7, should have a formal dyslexia assessment. ow.ly/HxZV30ssf5b

108 yrs ago, 376 Sikh, Muslim and Hindu passengers arrived on the Komagata Maru seeking a better life. They were barred entry from BC. It reminds us of the harms of systemic racism and the resiliency of people standing against injustice, working to build a more equitable BC.

The #RightToRead inquiry found that by not using evidence-based approaches to teach students to read, Ontario’s public education system is failing students with reading disabilities (such as dyslexia) and other students.

The best teachers I've worked with are never satisfied. They are constantly questioning, searching, and fine-tuning their instruction to benefit their students. NO ONE has all the answers but we can all be questioning and searching. Our students deserve our collective best.

One of the themes of Chanukah is the perseverance of light over darkness. Holocaust survivors, like my great grandmother Lily Ebert, are powerful lights that guide us and make the world a brighter place. Wishing a warm and wonderful Chanukah to all those celebrating.

My home of BC 🇨🇦 continues to face a crisis from the brutal #BCFloods. Homes, farms, schools, roads and vulnerable communities. Rebuilding will take time. Blake and I made a donation to @redcrosscanada. If you’d like to help, here’s a link ➡️ bit.ly/3kN1pu6

I can only speak for myself. Why do I wear a mask? Because the cost & inconvenience to me is tiny, but benefit to others of me not passing the virus even though I'm vaccinated is so large. As an economist, looking at the benefit to cost ratio makes sense. What an easy decision!
