So the inquest for Lauren Bridges finally begins tomorrow and will last 4-5 weeks. Lauren was a young, beautiful autistic woman who had her autism gaslit by both psychiatrists and psychologists. She saw no way out of the abuse she was suffering and died by her own hand in the unit she was supposed to be taken care of. Care wasn’t what she received, she received abuse and trauma from those who were supposed to help her heal.
In advance, I will not be accepting any plea from health professionals saying they weren’t educated in autism, ignorance is not an excuse, she had been diagnosed, TWICE!
Second time at the expensive cost of her mother in the hope the abuse would stop and she would receive appropriate treatment.
No professional should be providing treatment and making any form of commentary on a diagnosis they’re not educated in.
I was abused at the hands of a therapist uneducated in autism whilst inpatient and I can’t put into words the psychological hell and trauma it caused. I hope she is at peace wherever she’s gone, I know she is behind all of us still fighting today, alongside Zoe Zaremba and the others who were taken as a result of the system.
Why were they so resistant to even acknowledge her autism?
What harm would it have caused them to accept autism?
What did the health professionals benefit from denying her something she made clear helped her to understand herself?
What do they benefit from the EUPD label?…even though the treatment for something you don’t have is literally costing us lives.
