The Institute of Pesticide Formulation Technology (IPFT), Gurugram, an autonomous institution under the Department of Chemicals and Petrochemicals, Ministry of Chemicals and Fertilizers, Government of India, inaugurated the two-day Symposium-cum-Workshop “BIOPSF 2026: NextGen Bio-Inputs – Bio-based Pesticides, Stimulants and Fertilizers” at the National Agricultural Science Complex (NASC), New Delhi.
Organized as part of the 36th Foundation Day celebrations of IPFT, the symposium has brought together policymakers, scientists, industry leaders, regulators, academicians, entrepreneurs, start-ups, students, and researchers to deliberate on emerging developments in bio-based agricultural inputs and their role in promoting sustainable agriculture.
The inaugural session was graced by Dr. G. Venkatesh, Joint Secretary (Petrochemicals), Department of Chemicals and Petrochemicals, Government of India, as the Chief Guest. Distinguished Guests of Honour included Dr. Bhaskar Narayan, Director, CSIR-IITR, Lucknow and Honorary Executive Chairperson, ASTRA; Prof. Indra Mani, Vice-Chancellor, VNMKV, Parbhani; Dr. Neelima Mishra, Director, National Institute of Biologicals (NIB), Noida; Dr. P. Giridhar, Director, CSIR-CFTRI, Mysuru;; Ms. Sandeepa Kanitkar, CMD, Kan Biosys Pvt. Ltd. And President, BASAI; and Dr. Mohamed Adil A.A., Managing Director, Bangalore Bioinnovation Centre.
In his welcome address, Dr. M.K.R. Mudiam, Director, IPFT, highlighted the importance of next-generation bio-inputs in addressing challenges related to pesticide resistance, climate change, soil health, and sustainable agriculture.
