The conference concluded with the closing panel discussion “Six-Seven Leadership Legacy: Shaping Happy Future with Projects”, which brought together current and former IPMA presidents to reflect on the evolution of project management, leadership, and the future of the profession. The panelists emphasized that while methodologies, technologies, and tools continue to evolve, the future of project management will increasingly rely on human-centered leadership, ethics, communication, stakeholder engagement, and the ability to lead through uncertainty and change. Special attention was given to the importance of involving younger generations and creating opportunities for future leaders, as well as preserving the values and legacy that have shaped IPMA throughout decades of international collaboration. The panel discussion “The PMO as a Powerhouse of Happiness in Project Environments” focused on the evolving role of PMOs as strategic partners that create business value, support people, and contribute to healthier project environments. The panel was moderated by Wagner Reinhard, Founder & CEO of Projektivisten GmbH and Former IPMA President, with participation from Marisa Silva, PMO and PPM Specialist and International Consultant at Wellingtone, Vladimir Rašović, Global Operational Excellence Manager at Siemens Energy, Joop Schefferlie, IPMA Chairman and Former IPMA President, and Oliver McGibbon, Head of the Portfolio Management Office at Samsung Electronics. One of the central messages of the discussion was that the PMO of the future should move beyond governance, reporting, and compliance, becoming a strategic business partner focused on enabling organizational success and creating stakeholder value. The panelists emphasized that while AI will increasingly simplify PMO operations through automation, analytics, and reporting, leadership and decision-making will remain deeply human processes. “AI can make PMO work easier, but people still speak to people when decisions are made.” The discussion also highlighted the importance of continuously adapting PMOs to organizational needs, culture, and strategic priorities, as well as positioning them close enough to executive leadership to avoid becoming purely administrative structures. Special attention was given to the role of PMOs in supporting collaboration, representing project stakeholders, reducing unnecessary bureaucracy, and creating environments where both projects and people can thrive. ⚙️🤝📈 #SENET2026 #IPMA #IPMASerbia #ProjectManagement #PMO #Leadership #Innovation #BusinessValue #Belgrade

The keynote session featuring Marisa Silva, PMO and PPM Specialist and International Consultant at Wellingtone, and Bryce Fuemmeler, Senior Research Associate at Harvard Kennedy School, focused on the relationship between governance, workplace culture, and sustainable project performance. In her keynote “The Happy PMO: Designing Governance People Want to Follow”, Marisa Silva addressed the challenges of governance in modern project environments and the need to make PMOs more human-centered, practical, and supportive. She emphasized that excessive complexity and reporting requirements often create frustration and disengagement, while effective governance should focus on clarity, enablement, visibility, and psychological safety. Speaking about the future of project management, Silva also noted that AI will amplify both valuable insights and information noise, making simplicity and well-designed governance even more important. Bryce Fuemmeler, in his presentation “The Art and Science of Meaningful Work”, spoke about the importance of purpose, connection, and organizational culture in creating engaged and successful teams. Drawing on research linking employee happiness with stronger organizational performance, he emphasized that meaningful work is not only a wellbeing issue, but also a business advantage. One of the key messages of the session was that workplace culture has a greater impact on employee satisfaction than compensation alone. Leadership, trust, innovation, belonging, and authentic workplace relationships were highlighted as essential elements of long-term engagement and performance. 💼🌱📊 #SENET2026 #IPMA #IPMASerbia #ProjectManagement #Leadership #PMO #Innovation #WorkplaceCulture #Belgrade

The panel discussion “Projects in the Spotlight: How Media Shapes What the World Sees and Believes” explored the growing influence of media, communication, and public perception in today’s project environment. The panel was moderated by Tamara Vlastelica, Corporate Communications and Marketing Professor and Consultant, with participation from Ivan Radak, Editor of Forbes Serbia, Tijana Skodrić, NewsMax, Mauro Mancini, Politecnico di Milano, Italy, and Dragana Žarković Obradović, Director of BIRN. One of the key messages of the discussion was that project legitimacy is no longer static — it must be continuously built, protected, and communicated. Panelists emphasized that communication has become a core competence of modern project management, as project leaders today are expected not only to deliver projects, but also to explain, defend, and communicate them to the public. The discussion also highlighted the importance of transparency, credible data, and clear communication in building trust and reducing misinformation, especially in an environment shaped by both traditional media and social platforms. Special attention was given to the changing role of media and public opinion, where journalists, influencers, and online communities all contribute to shaping how projects are perceived by society. 📺🌍💬 #SENET2026 #IPMA #IPMASerbia #ProjectManagement #Media #Communication #Leadership #Innovation #Belgrade

Leadership That Fosters Team Wellbeing and Engagement Dejan Jakovljević, Head of EMEIA PMO at Schneider Electric, shared how leadership behaviors directly influence employee wellbeing, engagement, and overall business performance. Key takeaways: 🔹 People-First Leadership Drives Engagement – Understand individual motivations, listen actively, and demonstrate genuine empathy. 🔹 Culture Shapes Wellbeing – Flexible work matters, but connection, innovation, continuous improvement, and solidarity create lasting wellbeing. 🔹 Balance Performance and Development – Sustainable results emerge when employee growth and business objectives are given equal attention. 🔹 Lead by Example and Communicate Clearly – Consistency, clear expectations, timely communication, and humility build trust and high-performing teams. Beyond Success: Why Trust, Data and AI Must Work Together Veljko Janjić, Founder and Chairman of BEXEL, presented a forward-looking vision for construction project management—one where trust, data ownership, digital twins, automation, and AI converge to deliver better outcomes and healthier project environments. Critical insights: 🔹 Automation vs AI – Automation ensures consistent results; AI learns from historical data, identifies patterns, predicts risks, and supports complex decisions. Combining both is key. 🔹 A Single Source of Truth – Integrated data reduces uncertainty, inefficiency, and mistrust. 🔹 Project Owner Data Ownership – Complete, reliable project information is a strategic advantage. 🔹 Digital Twins Transform Delivery – Linking BIM models, schedules, costs, documents, and progress enables real-time, informed decision-making. 🔹 AI Depends on Quality Data – Without structured, trusted information, AI cannot provide meaningful insights. 🔹 Wellbeing Drives Performance – Reducing uncertainty and enabling proactive management improves team outcomes while lowering stress. The future of construction is not AI-driven—it is data-driven, trust-enabled, and AI-accelerated. Organizations building strong information foundations today will fully leverage AI tomorrow. #IPMA #IPMASENET2026 #Leadership #TeamWellbeing #PeopleFirs
