Navel orangeworm egg laying activity in almonds has been going up - not surprising for given the high overwintering populations and the prevalence of mummy nuts out there. Keep track of what’s happening throughout the season is crucial. Numbers from Modesto area.

🚨 A new invasive beetle is going after our almonds and pistachios and farmers are waking up to find their crops eaten away.
I’m pushing the @USDA for an emergency response to nip this in the bud before these pests cause real damage and hurt our economy.

Applying entomopathogenic nematodes for flatheaded borer, Chrysobothris mali, in walnuts. This pest has been damaging several walnut orchards each specially when trees are little stressed, sunburn, and may not have best growth. You may not detect the stress level visually!@ucanr
