If you’re happy with energy prices right now, then we don’t need permit reform. But if you feel like the status quo isn’t working, then we need to cut the costly red tape holding down new projects and holding up affordability for families.

We can’t let politics get in the way of building more energy supply.    Glad to sit down with @ThomasHochman to discuss the FREEDOM Act and unlocking America’s full energy potential.

The literacy crisis is real, and we have to act before it’s too late. That’s why I’m pushing to restore the National Reading Panel to jumpstart evidence-based solutions for the next generation of students.

Over/under — how long is this going to take to get approved? Without serious reforms that make it easier to build, see you at the groundbreaking in 2060!
And they'd be driven autonomously. trib.al/lmRj12D

A country that can't build enough homes, enough power, enough infrastructure, enough innovation, and enough opportunity is going to struggle to maintain public trust. That’s why I created the Build America Caucus, so we can get back to building again.

AI is an exciting tool for accelerating innovation, but it’s also exposing risks in our biotech industry. Requiring supply chain safeguards to stop bioweapons from ending up in the hands of bad actors should be a no-brainer.
No one should be able to order a bioweapon through the mail. @IFP & @JoinFAI are proud to co-lead an open letter calling for mandatory DNA synthesis screening & recordkeeping. Signatories include: - Sam Altman, CEO & Co-Founder, OpenAI - Dario Amodei, CEO & Co-Founder, Anthropic - David Baker, Director, Institute for Protein Design; 2024 Nobel Prize in Chemistry recipient - Patrick Collison, CEO & Co-Founder, Stripe - Paul Graham, Founder, Y Combinator - Demis Hassabis, CEO, Google DeepMind; 2024 Nobel Prize in Chemistry recipient - Emily Leproust, CEO & Co-Founder, Twist Bioscience - Lawrence Lessig, Roy L. Furman Professor of Law and Leadership, Harvard Law School - Gerald W. Parker, former Special Assistant to the President for Biosecurity and Pandemic Response - Mustafa Suleyman, CEO, Microsoft AI - Alex Tabarrok, Professor of Economics, George Mason University - Alexandr Wang, Chief AI Officer, Meta; Founder, Scale AI - Christine E. Wormuth, President & CEO, Nuclear Threat Initiative; 25th Secretary of the Army Read the letter and see the full list of signatories: screendna.org Many DNA synthesis companies voluntarily screen orders to mitigate biosecurity risks, but no law requires them to do so. Leaders in AI, biotech, life sciences, national security, and the nucleic acid synthesis industry agree that Congress should act to strengthen safeguards against biological threats. @deanwball put it well in the WSJ: “If you’re synthesizing the stuff that yields biological life and viruses, we’re asking you to screen to see whether it is dangerous in some way. That seems like a reasonable thing for society to insist upon.”

Making it easier to get more geothermal built faster is a huge win. More good-paying jobs, lower energy costs, and greater energy security - that’s what we’re unlocking with today’s reforms.
Exciting news! The House is voting on a bill today to improve geothermal permitting, siting, and building. The package includes good ideas from @RepMaloyUtah @RepMikeKennedy @RepAOC. Geothermal energy is critical to achieve energy abundance and these reforms are important parts of the path there.

Doubling survival times for one of the deadliest kinds of cancer is a massive achievement. So excited for more breakthrough science like this in the future!
One of the most amazing things I’ve ever seen: a standing ovation for the full Daraxonrasib results I feel inspired and energised, to put it mildly — we have a targeted therapy for pancreatic cancer now, and nothing is undruggable anymore

We’re seeing pro-growth policies gain traction with liberals and conservatives alike because scarcity is rampant in every community in America. So cool to see New York making building a priority!
Replying to @aarmlovi
Mamdani's housing plan is live! There's sweeping YIMBY stuff: -Aggressive TOD upzoning -Major permitting reform -Rescuing & rebuilding NYCHA -Building Code reform They're also looking at finer details, like fixing the FDNY inspections that so often delay final occupancy

Just about the only thing Americans agree on these days is that our country is broken - fixing that means getting back to building. Had a blast talking to @makosloff on the @RealignmentPod about the Build America Caucus’ work to restore trust in gov’t. the-realignment.simplecast.c…

I just voted to pass the strongest housing bill in 50 years. It passed the House with overwhelming support, as well as UNANIMOUS support from the Build America Caucus!    Now I’m calling on the Senate to fast-track this package to the President’s desk.🧵

That all means this package, which is the strongest federal housing package in half a century, is now the most durable path for historic housing reforms becoming law.    Now the Senate needs to make passing this their top priority.

Our families have waited long enough. Washington has ignored our housing crisis for years.   The best time to address this problem was decades ago. The next best time is right now.   Let’s get this done.
