ISI is home to one of the world’s leading artificial intelligence research labs that explores diverse topics across basic & applied research continuum.
Excited about "Will AIs Ever be One of Us?", an USC @ISI_AI event, with Elizabeth Churchill @xeeliz, Antonio Damasio @damasiousc, and Prem Natarajan @natarajan_prem as invited speakers and a lot of USC speakers as well! Jan 12-13, RSVP at ai.isi.edu
In January 2021, USC ISI will be hosting an #ArtificialIntelligence Symposium featuring numerous prolific AI researchers. Focusing on whether AI models will ever be one of us, the event presentations & themes will help us see AI in a new light.🧐More details to come!

Check out @harhrayr Hrayr Harutyunyan team's #ICML2020 poster session tomorrow at 7am PST and 6pm PST on "Improving Generalization by Controlling Label-Noise Information in Neural Network Weights." Read the research paper here: arxiv.org/abs/2002.07933
I am thrilled to share that I will be joining ISI USC this Fall. I am excited about the upcoming collaborations with colleagues at @USC_ISI@USC.
I am grateful for every moment I've spent at @LTIatCMU, with my advisor @ehovy and other coauthors @gneubig@violet_zct@waterluffy.
Liz Boschee, of @USCViterbi, demonstrates the world’s first cross-language information retrieval system for #Pashto speech and text, built for the MATERIAL program in five days! Learn more about MATERIAL here: bit.ly/2csieXH
#AAAI20 friends, come see @Sarikgha presenting our work on evaluating open domain dialog sys! We showed that the engagement of a conversation could be predicted early on with individual utterance pairs, and yield high correlation with human! @aram_galstyan@USC_ISI
Super excited to present our latest work on the automatic evaluation of open-domain dialogue systems by leveraging predictive engagement at @RealAAAI. If your are interested to know more please come and visit our poster #NLP6421 tomorrow evening (02/10)!
Hey Twitter! If you're at #NeurIPS2019 come by Poster 67, first session. We're presenting an EXACT rate-distortion noise model, which gives you a closed form for I(z,x) in e.g. VAE.
Work lead by the amazing @brekelmania @gesteller@aram_galstyan team at @USC_ISI
Really happy for @Sarikgha who got her first full conference paper accepted by #AAAI2020! @RealAAAI I’m especially proud of seeing her gradually growing into a confident researcher! #womenintech
Also another successful collaboration w/ @aram_galstyan and Ralph @USC_ISI
Pleased to share that our work with title “Predictive Engagement: An Efficient Metric for Automatic Evaluation of Open-Domain Dialogue Systems” has been accepted at AAA20 @RealAAAI. It’s a joint work with @VioletNPeng@aram_galstyan and Ralph Weischedel.

NEW: Computer scientists from USC have developed a method of detecting deep fakes with 96% accuracy.
It uses AI to detect inconsistencies between existing real videos of the subject and test cases.
Project was funded by DARPA.
