#HOTD Season 3 will feature a new opening sequence! Still styled as a tapestry, the visuals will include new embroidery and focus on the Targaryen empire's fabric being torn apart in fire and blood. The iconic theme has also been given a new arrangement by composer Ramin Djawadi. 🎵

Probably my favourite part of the Hobbit film trilogy
The scene where The Misty Mountains Cold is sung in The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey still gives me chills to this day. One lesser-known detail about the song is that, in Tolkien's The Hobbit book, Thorin and Company take out their instruments and begin singing while gathered at Bag End after the Unexpected Party. Tolkien describes the version heard by Bilbo as only a fragment of their true song. The music and singing awaken the adventurous Took side of Bilbo's personality, filling him with a sudden desire to see distant lands and seek adventure. However, the thought of dragons and danger quickly brings back his more cautious Baggins nature.

I'm actually looking forward to this (if true). The show has portrayed Rhaenyra slightly differently to how she comes across in Fire and Blood, which means we need a bit more pacing to get her to where she needs to be character-wise in the latter part of the Dance. And we need to understand more of the conditions in Kings Landing that lead to the rise of the Shepherd et al. In the book, Rhaenyra's policy decisions (and those of her Small Council) played a key role in that.
🚨| The “character-driven conceptual episode” S03E03, will reportedly center entirely on Rhaenyra’s political challenges as she establishes her rule in King’s Landing, unfolding as a chamber drama built around internal court politics and negotiations.

I expect GRRM will announce a new Dunk and Egg story before The Winds of Winter. And I am 100% ok with that.

When George R R Martin finishes The Winds of Winter he will tell us first via his blog, not via a publishing house (even one as wonderful as the Folio Society), or anyone else.
Game of Thrones fans are convincing themselves that Winds of Winter news is coming soon When promoting a new edition of the first book, the Folio Society said, “Keep your eyes on the skies… another message is on its way”

Hmm. This seems to go against the whole competitive tender thing, unless they want to tie the hands of the money-people.
The BBC is reportedly close to choosing a new showrunner for 'DOCTOR WHO'. The shortlist includes names like Tony Gilroy ('ANDOR'), Sam Levinson ('EUPHORIA'), and Damon Lindelof ('LOST'). (Source: deadline.com/2026/06/doctor-…)

FWIW I think the BBC should definitely consider J Michael Straczynski. I'd recommend that he sets up a production company, gets fans involved, does this virally with a GoFundMe, and bids...
Babylon 5 creator J. Michael Straczynski floats the idea that he should be the showrunner of the next Doctor Who iteration: "A (relatively) quick note to respond to the (much appreciated) scores of (very nice) notes online regarding today's news about Doctor Who. My interest and record is well-established; the only real question I think the BBC would (very fairly) ask is: would British fans be open to an American showrunner, even one who is legally a resident of the UK under a visa that allows me to work for in TV/film in the UK? I think so but I doubt they'd just take my word for it, nor should they. The fan community would have to have their (polite, constructive) say." Would this be a good or bad idea for the BBC?

"Who was this woman? A serving wench who dabbled in potions and spells, says Munkun. A woods witch, claims Septon Eustace. A malign enchantress who bathed in the blood of virgins to preserve her youth, Mushroom would have us believe. Her name suggests bastard birth … but we know little of her father, and less of her mother. Munkun and Eustace tell us she was sired by Lord Lyonel Strong in his callow youth, making her a natural half-sister to his sons Harwin (Breakbones) and Larys (the Clubfoot). But Mushroom insists that she was much older, that she was wet nurse to both boys, perhaps even to their father a generation earlier ... Was she in truth a witch who lay with demons, bringing forth dead children as payment for the knowledge they gave her? Was she a simpleminded slattern, as Eustace believes? A wanton who used her poisons and potions to bind men to her, body and soul?"
EXCLUSIVE: Gayle Rankin teased that more will finally be revealed about Alys Rivers' identity, "who she is," and "where she comes from", in #HouseOfTheDragon season 3: "That's been really exciting to work with Ryan [Condal] and the entire writing team on. And in season 2 it wasn't exactly explicit, but things will develop, things will be exposed." Read More: bit.ly/4ony210

Less of the high lords, and more of the dust and troubles of the smallfolk, is what I want.
Ira Parker says #AKOTSK season 2 will be “smaller and more intimate”: “We’re spending more time in the Reach, out among farms and quieter places. A lot of shows want to go bigger in their second season. We’re doing something different. We’re getting closer to the characters.”
