When competency and infrastructure available, emergency MIS cholecystectomy within in the first 72 hours of on symptomatology onset is our practice standard since over two decades, excellent Sweedish data confirms.
Early cholecystectomy for recurrent versus first-time cholecystitis: nationwide population-based study ➡️doi.org/10.1093/bjsopen/zraf… This population-based cohort study from Sweden found that patients undergoing early cholecystectomy for recurrent cholecystitis had higher rates of complications than those operated on during their first episode. Those with recurrent cholecystitis had increased risks of bile duct injury, intestinal perforation, prolonged surgery, and conversion to an open procedure. The findings support early surgical intervention during the initial episode to reduce the risk of adverse outcomes associated with recurrence. 👏👏👏Magnus Edblom , Lars Enochsson , Hanna Nyström , Gabriel Sandblom , Urban Arnelo , Oskar Hemmingsson , Ioannis Gkekas #SoMe4Surgery #MedTwitter #SurgEd #Surgery @BJSAcademy @BJSurgery #some4hpb

This is the scariest and most important study you'll see today. Colorectal cancer has officially become the #1 cause of cancer-related death among people under 50yo. Every other cancer has shown decreased mortality over time while CRC mortality is going up. @SoniaRamMD @CmfrielFriel
#ColorectalCancer is now the leading cause of cancer death in females and males younger than 50 years combined in the US, surpassing other cancer types over the past three decades. ️ 📽️ Watch the video and read the full article: ja.ma/3NWVUdx

Surgeons report neck, shoulder & back pain at rates comparable to apprentice construction workers—using the same MSK questionnaire. This isn’t “normal discomfort.” It’s occupational risk. Ergonomics = surgeon health career longevity. @AmCollSurgeons #SurgicalErgonomics

Older doctors sold out their respective specialties and practices to private equity and large hospital corporations - and younger doctors have become assembly line workers and pawns in the healthcare game. Yeah the Boomers fucked medicine up and now crying about it. Oh well you reap what you sow.

Younger doctors are forced to practice corporate medicine where they’re not control of their practice. Are you surprised that they adopt a shift worker mentality when they’re not the boss? Older docs remember being the boss, even if they’re not right now. Those old habits die hard.

Doctors for generations accepted being at the mercy of their pagers. Now, younger physicians are questioning medicine’s workaholic culture. “All us old guys are taking ER call, and you got guys in their 30s at home every night. It’s just a sore spot.” on.wsj.com/4saHdDE

Robotic-assisted inguinal hernia repair is accused to take longer operative time compared to TEP or Laps TAPP Really? This latest iconoclast Danish randomized controlled trial proves that robotics has “not” longer OR times than straight sticks. link.springer.com/article/10…
